New game+ without any upgrades or riddler stuff

So I first played this game when it came out on ps3, but since have acquired it on steam and think I may finally play through it again. Back then, I don't believe I managed to go through the new game + all the way, just kind of lost interest.

I'd like to try the new game + and thought about getting a save file with the game completed so I could just start on game+, but I don't really want to do that if it means I have all the upgrades and riddler stuff upon starting. I want the increased difficulty but nothing else.

I looked for save file editors to see if maybe there was a program out there that I could use to hack my save file and create one to these specs, but nothing like it seems to exist. I've seen someone mention editing the save file manually, but I think that's probably over my head.

Hasn't anyone else ever thought about doing something like this? Seems like it would be kind of cool, as an even harder mode beyond hard or standard new game + with all the upgrades. Anyone have any ideas on how this could be done, or if there are any reasons it couldn't be?

Just speed through the normal difficulty without wasting time in sidequests and not buying upgrades to unlock New Game Plus. The only thing, you won't be able to start at Level 1 but. There might be a save file like this but I haven't found one.

i guess i didn't really make it clear but when i said upgrades i also meant all the gadgets too. i'll still have all that stuff in a new game plus right? it'd be cool if i could just start the game for the first time in years (or ever, if i were someone who hadn't played at all and just wanted the biggest challenge), and could start at new game + difficulty but without ANY progress from the previous run through the game. anyone have any ideas on if that might even be possible?

No idea. But you can make a close experience by playing on Hard with Tips turned off. That way you won't have counter indicators.

oh right yeah i guess that's probably as close as you could get without somehow hacking a save game. actually though, i just realized that the new game + would probably lack the scripted scenes where you get the gadgets so it wouldn't work anyway. well, thanks!

No, New Game Plus does have all those cutscenes with gadgets. They're just pointless.

Sorry for the necropost, but I have done what you tried to achieve and modded a save in which the main story has not even been started yet, but New Game Plus is already unlocked. I had to use the decompression tool by Fairchild[www.360haven.com] and tediously flip a bit in the LARGE save with HxD, but I've finally got it...

Here is the save file's download[drive.google.com]

Here is how you use it:

1. Start a new game in AC(, preferably on slot 4)
   
2. Navigate to C:\Program Files (X86)\Steam\userdata\<userid>\200260\remote
   
3. Rename the modded file to match the name of your newly created save (by default, my save is on slot 4)
   
4. Replace the old file with the modded one

Unfortunately, there is one caveat to it: the gadgets you acquire throughout your first playthorugh are hard-coded into NG+, meaning that you can't start off with just the Batarang and stuff. Instead you always have the other gadgets too like the Freeze Blast; this is immutable. Fixing that inconsistency would require some heavy modding. "That would take decades. Time, it appears, you do not to have."
