I can confirm this - Won't work for me on Windows 8 x64.. VC Redist Package fails to install, anyone know what exact package I need to download/install?

It looks to me like it doesn't even know where the assets are located as if they'd been renamed or something. That's why it says `Installing: (step of )`.

Works fine for me on Windows 8.1 64-bit. Wish I knew how to help.

Did you upgrade to Windows 8 from 7 or is it a fresh system?
Wilda Aug 25, 2014 @ 11:35pm
Fresh install.

I'll try a full reinstall and see.

I did an upgrade from 7.

Mine was fresh. The machine only has Steam and games; although, deleting local content and reinstalling sounds good.

This is the error I'm getting when running directly from the EXE.

---------------------------
Sideway_ShippingWin32Steam.exe - System Error
---------------------------
The program can't start because PhysXLoader.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

OK

The nVIDIA PhysX installer doesn't work from the dir so I manually installed it and a newer one; still getting this error.

Go to `C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\PhysX\Common` and copy all the files in there into `C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\sideway\Win32`.

Doing that, I was able to load the game.
