Fixed the black screen error.
--- Simple --
1. Using windows explorer navigate to:
Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\Common\WormsRevolution
2. Select everything that is NOT A FOLDER and delete
3. Open Steam Library
4. Under Worms Revolution's Properties/Local Files press Verify Local Game Files
5.. If/when the error comes back... Repete :(

You may need to restart Steam.

-- Detailed--
1. Navigate to your steam directory under "Program files (x86)".
2. Open steamapps
3. Open Common
4. Open Worms Revolution
5. Delete cg.dll, cgGL.dll, Default.cfg, eng.txt, fmod_event.dll, fmodex.dll, glut32.dll, installscript.vdf, steam_api.dll, SteamBuildVersion.txt, WormsRevolution.exe.
6. Go to Steam Library
7. Right-click Worms Revolution
8. Go to "Properties"
9. Go to "Local Files" tab
10. Verify Local Game Files
The game will now verify and update files, and should work until the next black screen error, when that occurs simply repeat this tutorial.

You may need to restart Steam.

--original instructions--
1. Delete everything in the Worms Revolution folder EXCEPT for subfolders. Meaning, all the dlls, exes, and stuff in the root directory.
2. Validate Cache Files under game properties in the library.
3. It will download the files (verrry quickly)..
4. win.

Im inclined not to bash T17, as i do this sort of thing routinely for valve titles.

Note:
The issue may be related to the Steam_api.dll, I would test to find out which dlls are causing the problem but alas my free trial has run out.

I hypothesize that making certain files Read-Only might PREVENT the error, or perhaps a binary could be made that pastes freshly downloaded copies of the files over the corrupted ones.

it works only for once, when I quit the game and restart it, the black screen aka "wormsrevulution.exe has stopped working" shows again.

To skunkhollow and others : I have to do it almost each time I want to launch the game. I test 1 launch before (sometimes work). If you have a crash ingame and you want to reboot, you have to use our technic before.

That boring, but if you put a shortcut of the wormsrev from steamapps/common/WORMSREVOLUTION on your desktop, you spare time.

It reminds me the old amiga, when we used disks to boot.

That the solution you have to use while steam and the studio are working to fix it.
