Weird menu thing I recall seeing?

I recall seeing something in this game that used to startle me.

The thing concerned the computer the Scientist is interacting with in the main menu -- the one that sometimes displays "MASS ALARM". I think that, occasionally, the "MASS ALARM" would become especially severe, and the Scientist would actually get electrocuted by the computer.

Is this actually a thing that can happen, or did I just dream it? I tried idling in the main menu for a few minutes today, but I couldn't reproduce it.
