Application has been blocked from accessing graphics hardware PLEASE HELP
When i try to play Nosgoth, about 20 min into the game it just freezes, and in order to exit i have to do Ctrl+Alt+Delete and then go to the desktop. Once i am at the desktop i get an error message in the bottom right that says "Application has been blocked from accessing graphics hardware". I have looked through about 10 pages of Google and all these people are saying to update graphics card drivers, change the registry, do a reboot of windows, and all this stuff. None of it works! Here are my specs, you can see i can run this game at about 120 FPS no problem

16 GB RAM
64 bit Windows 8
GeForce GTX 660
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4770 CPU @ 3.50GHz
2 1920x1080 60Hz Monitors

Please Help as i am a YouTuber, and if i do not get this fixed, i might not be able to get anything out for a while and would be devastating!

You need a new gpu...hate to say it, but if that isn't overclocked, or overheating its not working correctly.
If you read the comments you'll see that the Issue is actually pretty hilarious in that the game cannot handle being ran at high speeds.

I came to this discussion because I had a similar problem to OP's. What is funny, is that no information at all in this entire discussion helped me at all even moderately. Before I get into what actually helped, let me give some background on my issue. I have had Mount and Blade: Warband since forever, and I love the game more than imaginable. I recently tried out Fire & Sword (had been avoiding due to bad reviews) and thought it really wasn't half bad, but every time I played it it would crash and say "Application blocked from using graphics hardware" about half an hour in. I was baffled, because I could run both Warband and Napoleonic Wars completely fine. Then I ended up here and started typing this. What solved my problem was not any of the in-detail information that I skimmed through from all the other comments (though some hinted at what the solution was in my case), but this line: "the game cannot handle being ran at high speeds." It immediately made me remember that I had set the max framerate for Fire & Sword at 9999 (something I hadn't done for the other two). Long story not as long, game could not handle uber computational abilities and setting the cap to 500 fixed.

So, to summarize, if anyone is having this problem and raised an old game's FPS limit super high, that's probably the problem.

Never set max FPS over 60. There's just no need for it and it'll overheat and kill your graphics card.

For those who have been having the same issue as me. I finally have a resolution to this. I spend about two weeks doing the checking myself.
My Spec Alienware M17Rx4 It has been running good on all of my games no compliant. I have tried many recommendation from the internet such as update drivers reinstall steam games. reformatting ect ect.

But I found out that the program that is doing all this to me was my internet security program called Avast. It was by coincident after the third time refreshing my computer without installing that program got me fix the issue. I am using my old default internet security from MacAfee and now everything works great.

Hope this helps for those had frustrations over weeks of not being able to play the games.
it had to do with compatibility issue with some internet security programs.

@xPegasus no one uses avast, avast is a virus that is disguised as a virus shield, you should have looked up proper shields before installing anything might aswell shoot out your processor and GPU with a shotgun if you install avast...

and lastly it is the windows 8.1 window update. avoiding the update to 8.1 also helped me from not crashing.
-The Assassin's Shadow. well I uninstalled it so it didn't hurt me lol. anyway

you can uninstall the update. but you need to check online to see which one is the update for 8.1

these are the ones I have found so far.
KB3030377
KB3032323
KB3033889
KB3034344
PrePatch
KB2919355
KB2919442

and it works fine for me now.

i am running windows 8.1 and as i stated earlier in this discussion what i did was making a batch file which would run automatically at startup rebooting the GPU by deactivating and reactivating it, i had this running for about a month and after that i have never had to use it again :)
SilverBirdRX 2015 年 3 月 14 日 下午 4:03
rebooting gpu that's something I haven't tried yet. But it seems like the problem is NVidia's PhysX Issue. I tried another way around it. update everything. Windows and graphic drivers. but I uninstall the PhysX NVidia experience Nvidia HD Audio ect just leaving the Graphic drivers it also worked. Assasin what batch files I can get to reset my GPU ?
Kattandra 2015 年 3 月 14 日 下午 7:03
my friend sent me a batch file lemme just copy paste it's contents

@ECHO OFF
pause
devcon disable =display
pause
devcon enable =display
pause

copy that into a .txt file and rename the file to a .bat

i liked to run it myself and choose when it did what so i removed the line that made it start with the computer and i don't remember it (my frend made this file for me as i have no clue what i am doing when using CMD)

but you remove the 1st and second pause it will do it automatically when running the batch file

EDIT: i don't know if its a GPU specific issue though as i had a Nvidia GTX 780ti which did it and i had it replaced but the second i got did it too i have filed a complaint with no results so far

I finally found out what the issue is. I went to have someone dialogistic my graphic hardware. It seems not the hardware issue. I wipe the drive clean with no old drivers and only install the window 8 updates from 2013 only. it works fine now. I read on one of the forum it has to do with the framework update from windows. so I will monitor till I see if its the issue.

i don't know if you still have this issue

i have had it several times by now for several games and what i do is

1) go to device manager
2) find gpu
3) right click gpu ->deactivate
4) right click gpu -> activate

that fixes it for me sometimes only untill the next restart sometimes for a full month
varies but it works

I can't seem to find GPU, help me?

Presumably this is fixed for everybody but it felt like I was trying everything in this thread and nothing was working. What finally got rid of the problem completely? Switching to Linux. It's a bit more of a faff to get games working but once you do they run without any problems.

I was getting that same error message every time I tried to play Jedi Outcast. In Linux I've racked up some time and Kyle Katarn is off on his adventures!

Hope this is helpful.

Regards,
Gareth

Thanks for the insight, Gareth!

However, I warn anyone that is still having this issue to avoid trying these older methods. You should try contacting {連結已移除} or checking the active troubleshoot threads.
