Why does Marathon have 35 less damage, but double the cooldown just for 1.5 seconds longer of a charge?

I know that, I even stated that in my post that I know it makes you run for 1.5 seconds more, but 35 less damage for 1.5 seconds more and double the cooldown is a weird trade off, there has to be something.

Both the 4.0 and the 5.5 seconds that Charge and Marathon tecnichally last do include the preparation. That means more or less 1.5 seconds are wasted for the initial acceleration alone.

In the light of that, it means Charge lets you run at full speed for pretty much 2.5 seconds, and Marathon for 4.0 seconds. That's close to double the actual full-speed sprinting time (and distance covered), hence why the buffs in damage and cooldown are so severe.

In terms of gameplay, 1.5 seconds are quite a long time.
The advantage of marathon is that you can initiate combat and escape within the span of one of your abilities. Cause some distraction among the human team, so that the other vampires can engage more easily.
