Nanoseed: Transmogrification Body Horror Tower.

It occurred to me that the nanites made use of all locally sourced materials to build your tower. And I have yet to come across a completely empty building...

So... I am trying to ask if we may have, even if we try to be the nicest AI possible, been responsible for a crime against humanity that would make the Geneva Suggestion blush?

Depending on how fast the conversion process was... "I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream" comes to mind...

Nanites are instantaneous so... It probably wouldn't be against the Geneva "suggestions" (lol)

For the sake of reference Microbuilders actually take a decent amount of time compared to the Nanoseed.

One would hope, I just can't shake the horrible feeling that they might have suffered terribly in their last brief moments.

Or, on the other hand, they might have gotten permanently integrated... Free computational resource after all, human brains, that is...

In the original The Matrix script, the machines were using the humans for their brain power, not their bio-electricity. Before executive meddling, that is.

I'd volunteer to be food for a nanocloud, so long as my conciousness was preserved (and perhaps, given autonomy to create my own replicant body, linked to the "network") Age of the Machine, indeed!

Carbon & Hydrogen are useful, not to mention the potential utility of biological parts of our bodies, like neural tissue etc.

I think you might enjoy an anime called Blassreiter.
The main character, and a lot of the supporting cast, are humans converted into nanite composed beings called Demoniacs(named after their demonic appearance).
They can never go back to being human, as there are no human cells remaining, only nanites.

And the Vatican, NATO, Russia and China are actively hunting them down to avoid mankind going extinct to the nanite plague.

Why are the Vatican involved as well?
Symbolism, "demons" vs the faithful "exorcising" said "demons", but also deeper reasons...
Well that would be me spoiling the show if I revealed that. :P

Our brains, still the most power efficient super computer known to man, for now.
Reinforced and enhanced with nanites it could get even better. Now imagine thousands of human brains enhanced with nanites, all linked up to form a giant data center spire.
Our AI protagonist could salivate at the thought of that much compute close at hand...

First real attempt at replicating it synthetically is being conducted in Australia now, a project named DeepSouth.
