because they are also a meritocracy, nominally.

you earn the right to be used as generic seed material for future generations.

add to that the fact that they formed from a very diverse organization. the SLDF was made up of people from every corner of the inner sphere.

Turns out being a blonde-haired, blue-eyed Aryan doesn't make you a better warrior, but having genes for superior reflexes or lung capacity does.
Also they're descended from a group of 800 founders who were basically a random sample of humanity, outside of being elite soldiers.

Still kinda weird that the Kit commanders note they are all from the same two bloodlines but they are all so different. Also not sure that been chunky is useful in using a mech. this isn't wieghtlifting.

There are genes from the non Warrior Castes thrown into the mix to maintain genetic diversity. But like with real world siblings (barring identitcal twins) they aren't going to look like clones, though they do all seem to share the same eyes.

as shin suggested, brothers and sisters are not clones.

the "chunky" ones are the elementals. apparently, unlike in a mech, you need muscles to move around in powered armor.

Just to add Elemental phenotype was created by Hells Horses as the part of their super-soldier program. And Horsies are not like them other clans. They are stalwart about not allowing mechs to dominate combat, mixing them with other types of troops AND for using large number of quality infantry in different formats.
It was pure luck that those huge super-soldiers made good combo with the revived SLDFs combat armor project. And it was also huge luck that Gost Bears have a fetish for physical fitness and invented all the modern combat armor tactics.

Mean technically the IS just had to look through their local gyms and find enough people swole enough to fill out their own Battle Armour Regiments rather than grow them in test tubes.
The Elemental suit was not a revived combat armour project by the way. It was a piece of industrial equipment that someone realised could be repurposed combined with existing knowledge they had of old SLDF combat armour. Why they didn't combine it with the SLDF combat robot program though was anyone's guess especially since it would have helped resolve their manpower issues and made the Clans instantly much cooler.

Given their current power level and solid dynastic union with Magistracy of Canopus - so true.
It is long overdue for fedrats to suffer. Been torn apart by Capelans, Combine and Taurians like they deserve.
Also i am very sure IS combat armor is made for normal sized people. They are jusy not as good as proper Elementals in the end though.
