Me'thinks the Mad Cat outranks the Warhawk and Executioner.
Since I got the first assult mechs, I've been rather disappointed. Granted, they likely have the BIG engines to go a bit faster than the average assault mech, but honestly I'd rather take a hit on speed because BOTH the Warhawk and Executioner have very limited slots. Though personally the Warhawk is better of those two, as the Executioner has pitiful center torso armor WITH NO EXTRA SLOTS, and both have whole sections with NO possible pods with ANY SLOTS.

I prefer to have beefy armor builds as I think it necessary for these missions (see below for my go to mech), and funny thing is this build out armors any build I've been able to make on the two bigger mechs AND higher damage! Mayhap there are pods that I missed but I'm going to try "Crater Investigation" with a full Mad cat squad. Not all the same mind you, but all have 698+ armor with at as much armor I can throw on the things. I think I have a fighting chance here.

Note: I am absolutely loving this game, and hope there are tons of DLCs in the future, but I hope the Dire Wolf has more slots to play with.

The Executioner has the same weight, movement profile, and the same loadout problems, as the Banshee: it's overengined for its size class. The only saving grace is that, being a Clan 'mech with an XL engine, it doesn't completely suck. Likewise, Gargoyle is basically a Clantech Charger, with the XL engine being the thing that allows it to mount actual weaponry. Some configs kind of work, but they're all undergunned by Clan standards, and giving them decent armor would inevitably make them even more so. Notice that, for what it's worth, the Gargoyle is actually faster than the Timberwolf, it moves like a medium despite being five tons heavier.

Yeah, but in the Battletech game I used my Banshees (the variant you describe above) like this: After they fired their weapons and needed to lose heat they are excellent in Rock'em Sock'em Robots!

I stand corrected, this is a bit of a slip on PGI's part.

Actually, I found a good reason why the Kingfisher wasn't in our lineup. According to this: https://www.sarna.net/wiki/Kingfisher it was created by Clan Snow Raven and was mostly used by Ghost Bear during the invasion.
Do not quote sarna as gospel as it does not go into detail and if you did then about a quarter of designs in game would be removed from lineup as they are considered exclusive with particular Clans according to sarna, also cause sarna happens to be frankly wrong in a growing number of cases due to a mix of poor wording and out of date info. The Kingfisher is both in MUL and assignment tables for Smoke Jaguar so its definitely in their arsenal, even the TRO mentions it being it fielded by Smoke Jaguars during the invasion and gives where they fought albeit said battles are at Tukayyid.

PGI in terms of slip both did and didn't. On one hand designs like the Shadow Cat and Arctic Cheetah were used by Smoke Jaguars during the invasion having being retconned into unit lists before 3052 much like the Kingfisher. On other hand they are both designs that were supposed to only have been encountered in combat by the IS in 3052, whereas the Kingfisher is a bit more ambiguous other than it is around. When it comes to the Kingfisher PGI also has to balance introducing designs on whether or not they'll sell in MWO in addition to their other projects; so although I could see the Kingfisher being a useful entity in MW5 Clans I doubt it would have seen a return of investment as don't see it being particularly good in MWO. There's three other designs that are around that can argue PGI let slip on especially since they had models to go but won't focus on that.

Yeah, if throwing punches like a freebirth barbarian is your thing, then sure, it's not a bad OmniMech for that. :)

That said, I actually found not one but two good configs for the Executioner. The hero variant makes for a better missile boat than Timber Wolf, in terms of the number of LRMs it can put in the air. The most fun, though, is the twin UAC-20 config. Not much in terms of backup weapons (just two lasers), but it has the ammo to last through a typical mission, and the sheer burst damage it inflicts (if the UACs do not jam) makes it a good choice for when you expect short sight lines. The MASC helps with that, too, as it enables the Executioner to close to UAC range quickly. Jump jets help overcome any obstacles that might be between you and the target.

A bit of a one trick pony, for sure, but it is a build that works. It would also be absolutely devastating if following zellbrigen. Just charge across the circle of equals, tank anything your opponent can throw at you, and put him out of action with a UAC burst before his weapons finish cycling.
