The issue is will playing as Inner Sphere during the beginning of the Clan Invasion actually work?

Lore wise Inner Sphere were completely outclassed at this point and were losing left and right.

If they make changes to this you know that people will complain that they're not following the lore.

I mean, once this is out, you KNOW someone is going to export the assets and they're gonna be part of a mod for MW5. Unless Piranha is dropping Unreal Engine (used in MW5) and going back to the Cry Engine (used in MWO).

Russ Bullock said it's moving to UE5 - so it'll still be in Unreal, just different iteration, no idea how that affects backend stuff tbh. Kinda confusing, maybe I'm misparsing it, but

So they were gonna let slip that it was moving up to UE5 during a hype podcast, this rando "um ackshully'ed" that it was 4 (incorrectly), Russ decided to just correct him and spill the tea then and there.

Bit surprised they went with Smoke Jaguar. They are by far the least impressive of any of the Clans.. frankly they're kinda pathetic and incompetent cannon fodder as in the lore they lose real badly in the invasion.. they rely entirely on savagery and war crimes, not strategic or tactical brilliance.

First of all "savagery and war crimes" is just a spheroid propaganda. The whole Clan warrior culture revolves around minimising damage to infrastructure and civilians.
Clans came here to free people from their corrupt rullers to begin with, not to wipe them out. Whatever your opinion on the matter may be.
Smoke Jaguars are a Clan are pure in their beliefs to the point of been naive. And that naivety was used against when Jade Falcons had needed someone to champion the invasion, after they made a secret deal with Comstar. Jaguars fought as a vanguard for the Invasion, and where picked by IS as target for retribution later on for that. And thanks to Lade Falcon manipulations none of the other Clans came to their help, as pretty much everyone blamed Jaguars for the loss at Tukayyid.
However talking about their skills as warriors, Viktor Steiner had created a secret commando unit from Smake Jaguar remnants. Guess why? yes, the dude who is considered the saviour of the inner Sphere. A unit that had a pretty long history, considering that the same unit had joined Alaric Ward in his assault on Terra, for a promise of reviving the clan.

Clan honor is sadly ironic. How could any isolated culture of thieving deserters that abandoned their humanity even understand honor. They just made up a bunch of madness to justify their messed up culture. They were always doomed to lose regardless of naivete, skill, or technology.

I mean sure, you can keep worshiping people like Hanse Davion who start interstate wars as a gift for his marriage. That is your right. And i will keep despising them.
Also great thing about loosing - Terra belongs to the Wolf Empire.

I'm just saying, at least some Clans have actual qualities and merits.. Smoke Jaguar are the idiot, incompetenent mentally challenged club swinging thugs of the clans in contrast to the rest of them. Their "claim to fame" is being horrendously pounded into the ground during the invasion. Most other Clans fought well.

It's not a bad choice. Jade Falcon aren't bad, but they are a little generic. Wolf don't act like a Clan so there's no real reason for them to even exist. Ghost Bear are okay, but half of their fights were against the FRR, and who cares about that? Also Jags are more fun anyway.

The Clan Invasion was instigated by the fear that the Inner Sphere was reforming the Star League - without their involvement. A conqueror's reason for conquest is always selfish and the Clans are no exception

That wasn't Jade Falcon politicking, the Jaguars brought it on themselves. They had no Allies among the Clans because of their viscous and un-clanlike behaviour. Which is saying something because Clanners pride themselves on their ferocity.

Honestly after listening to Forever Faithful audio book I am pretty pumped to play as pre-humbled Smoke Jaguar. You are going to get to do things Clan Smoke Jaguar will later regret. I hope we get a mostly lore accurate representation of the Jags and the operations we see.
