Overheating mechanic makes the game easier than I think it should be. Also, why even have night vision?
For starters, I finished the campaign with Expert Diff and I didn't even max evasion first on any of the characters until they max all their right side skills except Jayden (I max energy first then evasion). I feel the game is easier tbh especially with boatloading lasers and not having the repercussions except waiting it out. Part of the balance of previous games imho, is the shutdown mechanic when the mechs overheat. That's like a 5 second where you can;t do anything and YOU will get punished for it. Missiles and autocannons becomes underwhelming, add to the fact that ammos cost a ton. I know the community's negative feeling about mech shutdown but I've never been bothered by it and it adds another level when it comes to building mechs. It works in MWO and in Battletech game. Also the nightmode is useless. Seriously. They should just add the infrared vision to reduce the smoke.

If it makes you feel any better, NV in MW5:Mercs was completely useless as well since every map was lit well enough to never need it.... not that it even made a difference anyway since the NV was literally just a green filter.
It's the ReLux, NV, and YAML mods that made night missions NIGHT missions and made "severe" conditions LOOK severe.
So I'd say the lack of night functionality is par for course for PGI, and we need to rely on mods to make it better.
Also, enhanced imaging when? I'd love a thermal vision mod that superimposes the paper doll onto enemy mechs.

IIRC, MWO has that vision function to reduce smoke during gunfights. It's been 1-2 years since I played so I am not 100% sure but I am fairly certain because I tend to use it a lot since I usually go for ACs. My bigger thing is the shutdown lol. Is that lore-accurate for Clans? I love the override function. I just feel lasers become the undisputed meta right now because there's really zero risk.

Shutdowns aren't accurate at all, but I feel they tailored the game more towards green console players, and that's evident with the aim trainer, armour modules, and soft shutdown.
Would be nice if "expert" mode disabled the aim trainer and armour modules, and forced hard shutdowns.
You can also continue to use MG's during a shutdown, although that seemed to be hit and miss too? They might not do much, but they sound cool LOL

It would be nice to have it as an option to power down mech. Aim assist is an option u can adjust though. I would also have preferred a pc interface for pc vers of the game too. Never a fan of consolitus in PC versions of games also made for consoles. It needs a PC UI option.

You can raise your heat to ridiculous levels if you wish by toggling heat supression(override), shooting your weapons all at once, then quickly toggling it off
If you do it quick enough you can exceed hundreds of heat and have minimal overheat damage, and it's obvious enough i can only believe it's intentional, this can't be a mistake from the developers right???

Not sure if it's because they want it to be newbie-friendly but heat override has always been used to mitigate shutdowns before at a cost of internal structure. Now that they took it out, it's a meme imho. why bother even toggling it on/off when the risks are not there. You don't even need it tbh. At the very least, I think you should get double-damaged while in overheat state even though it doesn't make sense "lore-wise".

I just want lasers nerfed hard being a dakka lover myself. LMAO.
