Balancing is just bad in MW5: Clans :/
This game is utterly unfair!
Why do i have to fight about 30-40 enemy mechs with my 5 meches without the chance of using a repair bay ?
Throwing in an endless amount of enemies is just a cheap game design!!

Mechwarrior 5 Mercenaries gave you 4 mechs with shorter ranged weapons and enemies had endless spawns in most missions, meaning you had to complete the mission and then get out of there ASAP.

MW5 Clans massively improves from this.

The first skills you should unlock for your pilots is evasion to max. As well as researching armour and structure upgrades. This helps greatly.

This is exactly what I did and it makes a very noticeable difference.

Take a Nova, sit in water, break your lasers into three, maybe 4 groups. Shred medium mechs in seconds.

Take a direwolf and realise you're carrying the armour and firepower of a Marauder in EACH ARM, and then add a ♥♥♥♥ load more armour in the CT.

You're bordering on BROKEN compared to the IS side, hence why they throw so many at you.

It's surprisingly lore accurate.

Yea, i had the same idea - max out evasive skill and armor first^^

i'd disagree with the get out of their asap , and endless spawns were in waves i spent an hour on 1 mission dealing with the extra waves before choosing to leave,
and this is where mercs is better than clans, you have a lot more leeway in how to do the missions in clans if you want to do the mission quick and bug out you can if you want to go at targets in a certain order you can , and if you want to stay behind and build up your salvage chances you can.
As for your shorter ranged weapons comment after finishing the campaign a lot of the time you're in combat at the same ranges for both titles or so i found, there were only 2 real instances where you really used your extra range to its full extent, whilst mercs a lot of the maps actually allowed you to take advantage of longer ranges easier if you chose the the longer ranged weaponry. clans you're forced to a lot of closer ranged conflicts due to the map setup.

i set my lasers in to 2 groups i did take off 2 lasers though and added 2 heatsinks and melt melt melt.
my direwolf setup is 3 ER lasers 9 med pulse lasers 6 tons of armour 1ton in each in torso section and 1.5 ton in the arms 11 heat sinks AMS and an active probe and that thing slaps

i think the original BV was something like 2.2-1 IS-Clans
1 star was equivalent to a company of IS units of equivilant weight class
this was due to better ranging faster units in the same weight, and 1 thing this game doesn't seem to do well is far superior pilots.
and to be honest a lot of the time if you get your load outs and aim right as clanners you can take out the IS mechs rather quickly without too much hassel

Okay, by that comparison MW4: Mercs gave you the option to have two full lances and dozens of pilots to choose from. So these are huge downgrades from that system. Seriously, other than graphics and game engine, who is actually going to argue that MW4: Mercs didn't have the best campaign mode? Someone is going to say, "this is flamebait", but is it? Two full lances. Three different endings. Loads of mechs, weapons, pilots. It was and is the best. MW5 Clans feels more like MW4 Vengeance. Linear and limited.

The game isn't even that difficult. I did 90% of the campaign severely undertonned You should add more armor where you can.

Clans IS limited and not a sandbox, not yet atleast. Mercs was a sandbox. You cant really compare both titles in this regard. Dont forget also, clans got just released. currenly there is a story and more or less no need to replay the title, while you could spend endless hours in mercs. I would like the merc content ported to clans, that would be nice.

Yep. Modders are no doubt, already working on that as we speak.
