Mech Commander?!...

Wish we would get a new Mech Commander game... They truly were my favorites. Battletech came close but it was turn based. I want a live RTS style, like Mech commander 1, 2 was decent. 1 was really where it was at. Yeah you can download the old games and play them and a guy has released a lot of fan made content to really enjoy the nostalgia blast. I still want a new one.

The main problem is the game was nice but too shallow for Battletech fans and too complex for the standard RTS gamer.

A MechCommander style game with a proper mechlab and heat / range mechanics would be awesome... but alas, I feel mayrc is right and such a thing would be too niche.

Wow what? RTS games are not popular because they're too complex for most people. Mech commander was a nice looking game for its time but that's mostly all it had going for it. It was not too complex for RTS fans lol. Never played the sequel.

Whole time I was playing HBS's Battletech, I was wanting MechCommander 2. The more I played HBS's Battletech, the more I forgot about MechCommander 2. Then for a minute, there was a mod for MW5: Mercs that added some MC-like RTS elements. But patches and DLC broke it. I still want another MechCommander RTS, but if HBS could do another Battletech I would not be mad either.

Mechcommander probably won't ever happen again because Microsoft is just sitting on the license to it. They aren't even releasing the originals to purchase anymore, it's just dead.

I can't comment on Microsoft and whatever they plan to do with this license. However, a few years back MechCommander2 was released with a buncha I.P. removed. And, every title prior to MW5 was released on physical media, CD or DVD. I still have all mine on CD, MW2: Titanium Edition, MW3 + MW3: Pirate Moon. MC2, and all those MW4's. YMMV, you might find old game cd's at thrift shops ?

I actually preferred Mission Force: Cyberstorm to Mech Commander, even though it's turn based. The energy shields and different weapons needed for shields/armor made for some really interesting gameplay.

"All power to forward shields! Wait, what's that behind us?" ^^
