I know. I wanted to be all hardcore and pilot a TW, or even a Stormcrow (ha!) to the bitter end. But mobility is just not worth anything in the last mission arc.
I think I completed maybe 5, at most, missions that were way under max tonnage, before I had to break down and give everybody a Dire Wolf.
All makes total sense and I agree. No better mech for sniper builds. However, I dunno if the game is taking all the proper aspects into account like heat sinks and such for DPS. or at lkeast if it is then its not reporting it properly or ive missed somthing.
An example:

This is all about play style tho no? TW is indeed lighter and may have more free weight than an EXE but the weight that an EXE can put on is still more than a TW due to the increased total tonnage, making it faster and tougher than a TW. Using the MASC is a matter of pressing a toggle button and at the 4th tier you could run a considerable distance before needing to let it recharge. Its like having a sprint button for your mech. Once the EXE has its upgrades like the TW its maneuverability is just as good imo.
imagine non-stop chaining 2 medium lasers at a time, w 2 hole punches to make "better" mechs take a nap.
Upgrades don't affect spread at all for any of the weapons.

SSRM6
Saved weight goes into half a ton of streak ammo and more armour for the arms. Don't try to tell me I'm wasting a ton on MG's, I know they're useless, I just like the noise they make XD
The evasion stat is ridiculously powerful, I had both my arms blown off during the second last brawl (my bad, ran in too close assuming it was the last fight), booked it to the final area while the game host was cleaning those mechs out, and just managed to dodge 2 companies firing at me and got to the dropship lol
I've found in the preceding missions that having the extra 20kmh and extra manuverability of a heavy mech makes a big difference in how much fire you take. I'd be curious to see how the game calculates the final evasion bonus with mech speed and turning involved.
Actually come to think of it, I never even piloted a larger mech through the campaign, never really felt outgunned or outmatched in the Hellbringer.
(after playing 80% of the game with a ERSLaser nova)
15 Medium Pulse lasers on a second.
2 LRM 20, a LRM 10, and 8 ER Small lasers on a third.
15 ER Small Lasers, 4 Ultra AC/2, SRM6 on a fourth
2 SSRM 6, a SSRM, 4, 3 MGs, 12 Medium Pulse Lasers. on the last.
I can't think of a mech that isn't better than a Summoner - maybe a Mist Lynx, but it is close.
3xSSRM4 in left and center torso with 3 tons of ammo.
AMS in right torso with 1 ton of ammo in left arm (this makes room for 1 more heatsink in the RT).
1 ton of armour on each arm and left/right torso pods.
Active Probe in the head
Heatsinks everywhere else. It has 4.8 cooling and still runs hot but has enough sustained damage to melt mechs at any range and as a bonus jetpacks come in the center torso pod with the missiles and are very handy for PPC sniping.
