Don't even need to kill all the turrets.
I cleared one side of the ship and then just slaughtered the spawns on the turret free sidr until it gave me a countdown to Scan it, after which the mission succeeded.
Was using twin LBX5s as my main guns with 3 ERSLs for backup and had no trouble killing the turrets.
They definitely ate a bunch of shots though. Definitely made use of the commands to focus everyone on each turret though.
This was on Expert.
IT WOULDNT BE SUCH AN ISSUE IF THERE WAS CHECKPOINTS OR THE ABILITY TO SAVE
NOPE! You have to scan the dropship while surviving two more lances!
If you are struggling on this. The best mechs Ive had for this.
Stormcrows with 6 lasers slots and 1 cannon on the other and harbingers with dual 5 clusters.
6 small lasers and 1 acx10. fill everything else with armor slots. You want armor EVERYWHERE all the time. then you rush everything into the water on the right. The 6x small lasers will tear through the turrets faster then anything else.
Litterally just forget versality you want to tank up everything as much as humanly possible. Not a single mech went down on normal.
2x Mad Dog - Long and Short range missile boats
2x Hellbringers - Each had ARTIV LRM 10's. the stock ER PPC's, 3 MLA, and then stacked inn some more heatsinks, lots of LRM ammo and then filled the rest with armor to make 'em beefy boys
1x Stormcrow - Laser Crow if you know, you know
I tried this tactic on Normal and Export and it worked
When you get the step to destroy the Generators on stop.Move over near them back behind the dropship hangar. Pull your Battlemap up and move your Star as far up next to the dropship hangar, but in the water north of the hangar. Tell them to Defend.
Once they are there, blow up the Generators to start the encounter
Haul your butt to you star, open battlemap and move them up so they are even with the front of the dropship hanagr, but still in the water, and still defending.
From here, you and you star can rain unholy LRM hell on those poor, pathetic Spheroids.
Once Perez start ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about not doing the thing AND you see the first of the drops ships appear in the sky behind the dropship, haul you star up onto the concrete halfway between the handar and the dropship, but close to the water.
Book it to the front of the dropship and do start the scans, they take awhile but if you just keep moving forward to under the front of the Dropship, not much will hit you and you can scan in "relative" safety. Once the last one finishes, in the words of the Underpants Gnomes "PROFIT!"
Something to take note of, pilot one of the Hellbringers yourself. Why? Because the range on the ER PPC's is stupid far. You can literally hang back, away from your Star and shoot everything and minimize your own damage. The placement of in the water even with the front of the sropship hangar will lessen the dmg your Star takes from the turrets AND allow them to shoot said turrets in between wiping waves of mechs.
Lastly, if an enemy mech makes it to the water where you Star is, focus fire them down and then switch the Star back to Defend.
Hope this helps =D
