Heir to the Dragon - Turtle Bay
How am I supposed to take down the Dropship? At the end even with pretty okey health it just destroys me and my star so quickly, while the turrets barely get any damage from prolonged fire.

you can try to hit them at angles and being right under the ship ive found the lasers wont try and hit you unless it has a clear shot and being close lets you run from the missile ones

The turrets are absolute freakin bullet sponges. it takes around 18-20 gauss shots to kill one of them.

You don't need to kill the Dropship?
Don't even need to kill all the turrets.

I cleared one side of the ship and then just slaughtered the spawns on the turret free sidr until it gave me a countdown to Scan it, after which the mission succeeded.

Was using twin LBX5s as my main guns with 3 ERSLs for backup and had no trouble killing the turrets.
They definitely ate a bunch of shots though. Definitely made use of the commands to focus everyone on each turret though.
This was on Expert.

Im doing this on normal. I tried everything from sniping with gauss and lrms to rushing in close with brawling weapons. Anytime I tried to use "attack my target" They went up point blank and couldnt get their weapons high enough.

IT WOULDNT BE SUCH AN ISSUE IF THERE WAS CHECKPOINTS OR THE ABILITY TO SAVE
It took me 2 tries but I can understand your frustration, they take too many hits to get destroyed, same with the gazelle boss fight you do later too...

You are all below average Mechwarriors and disgraces to your clans!

Im freaking lost. I managed the near perfect run. I took down every single turret. EVERYTHING. All turrets down. Dropship didnt launch waves kept coming.

Makes sense they're bullet sponges, but the Gazelle was the worst. Took a few tries on some missions, but it's all about DPS and minimizing your front to their turrets. ER Large lasers and PPC's are the name of the game as far as I am concerned for taking on Unions.

Somebody explain how the hell im supposed to do this. I was told "You dont even need to kill all the turrets" Whats the objective here? Because the mech waves sure as ♥♥♥♥ seem endless.

I found this dumb too when it happend. You thought "YES! FINALLY!"
NOPE! You have to scan the dropship while surviving two more lances!

I finally got it.
If you are struggling on this. The best mechs Ive had for this.

Stormcrows with 6 lasers slots and 1 cannon on the other and harbingers with dual 5 clusters.
6 small lasers and 1 acx10. fill everything else with armor slots. You want armor EVERYWHERE all the time. then you rush everything into the water on the right. The 6x small lasers will tear through the turrets faster then anything else.
Litterally just forget versality you want to tank up everything as much as humanly possible. Not a single mech went down on normal.

On my 3rd try I stayed far away from the dropship and focused on taking down mechs. This worked, and eventually i was asked to scan the dropship. After this, regardless of the situation on the ground....(2 fresh lances were dropped in and it was clearly a no win scenario) the cutscene takes over and you get out.
I've seen a few posts around in different places complaining about this mission. To be honest I flew through it np like any other mission. It does throw a lot at you though! One thing I learned from the other boss fights in this game that I think made this a lot easier for me is whenever you are targeting a turret, you should always press F1+F1 immediately. (All units + attack my target). When the whole star is concentrating fire, the turrets should vanish in a few seconds.

So I was running into issues with this one too. I had backed off to normal and still was getting my butt kicked. Logged back in today and gave it a go with my original Star setup
2x Mad Dog - Long and Short range missile boats
2x Hellbringers - Each had ARTIV LRM 10's. the stock ER PPC's, 3 MLA, and then stacked inn some more heatsinks, lots of LRM ammo and then filled the rest with armor to make 'em beefy boys
1x Stormcrow - Laser Crow if you know, you know
I tried this tactic on Normal and Export and it worked
When you get the step to destroy the Generators on stop.Move over near them back behind the dropship hangar. Pull your Battlemap up and move your Star as far up next to the dropship hangar, but in the water north of the hangar. Tell them to Defend.
Once they are there, blow up the Generators to start the encounter
Haul your butt to you star, open battlemap and move them up so they are even with the front of the dropship hanagr, but still in the water, and still defending.
From here, you and you star can rain unholy LRM hell on those poor, pathetic Spheroids.
Once Perez start ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about not doing the thing AND you see the first of the drops ships appear in the sky behind the dropship, haul you star up onto the concrete halfway between the handar and the dropship, but close to the water.
Book it to the front of the dropship and do start the scans, they take awhile but if you just keep moving forward to under the front of the Dropship, not much will hit you and you can scan in "relative" safety. Once the last one finishes, in the words of the Underpants Gnomes "PROFIT!"
Something to take note of, pilot one of the Hellbringers yourself. Why? Because the range on the ER PPC's is stupid far. You can literally hang back, away from your Star and shoot everything and minimize your own damage. The placement of in the water even with the front of the sropship hangar will lessen the dmg your Star takes from the turrets AND allow them to shoot said turrets in between wiping waves of mechs.
Lastly, if an enemy mech makes it to the water where you Star is, focus fire them down and then switch the Star back to Defend.

Hope this helps =D
