It might be lore accurate but I agree with Shlone. Half the time I hear it in game I don't hear "Aff" I hear "Ass" and it makes me crack up every time. Love the game though.

Clanners speak in a certain manner.................it is for immersion.

Clanners do not, and never have said Affirmative or A-Firm. Certainly not in 3050. They say Aff. The only exceptions are Clanners who have had extensive contact with the Inner Sphere like Wolfs Dragoons.

The dialect used by Clan warriors is deliberately strange. It was to help underscore just how alien they are.

Aff and nag, and some other common abbreviations are popularized by Andery Kerensky, little brother of clans founder nic kerensky. I believe Nic also organized his murder cause Andrey was quite popular and had much more common sense and decency than his older brother. Even after his death clans society continue using his language quirks. I think nicholas made up the "star league language is holy you shall not use contractions" rule after his death.
