Gauss Rifle Range?

Am I crazy or shouldn't the gauss rifle have about the same range as the ER PPC? The game states that the gauss rifle range is 660m while the ER PPC is 1620m and both do 15 damage

I don't recall the tabletop for clan gauss range so I can quickly check, and looking at the material looks like that is correct 660 meters is the range for it, ac/2 and erppcs always shot further and yes the ppc does 15 as it does in the table top big difference in heat gen, cooldown and so forth though.

It should in tabletop. And considering the long charge time of a gauss rifle that isn't good. Nevermind the weight difference. Even if the gauss does full damage at max range and the ERPPC goes to half damage at half range, the ERPPC is still better.

I was watching a video and I noticed that the ranges of weapons when you are modifying a mech is twice (or it was for lasers anyway) the range that is shown on the battlefield. I guess the range in ship is showing max and the range in combat is the point at which weapon damage drops off?

I just checked my Record Sheet 3055 Upgrade and sure enough, Clan gauss rifle range is 7, 15, 22 while Clan ER PPC range is 7, 14, 23

Clan gauss should be roughly on par with the Clan ER PPC in terms of range.

There is no charge time for gauss in Clans.
