Clan Tech
Idk about you guys but I feel like the clan tech doesn't feel like clan tech if you know what I mean, It all feels very under powered more notable in the later levels where you tonnage can be 400+

this is my opinion and I do wonder if you guys share the same but the mod for MW5 did a better job at showing how much better clan tech was while still being able to fight them.

I could have my head up my ass on this one but wanted to know everyone's thought on the matter

I'm feeling really good about my ER Lasers actually.
And double heatsinks. :)

part of the reason for that is poor AI, your starmates like fighting at machine gun range, despite them sporting er weapons, and machine gun range is exactly where the IS want you due to swarm tactics, your average fresh out of the sibko clanner is sposed to have stats of a veteran - elite IS mech pilot and you start off as being a year out of the sibco so a few proper fights behind you. Clan tech for the most part is fairly easily countered and was done so by the IS to great effect with swarms and battlefield positioning IS were so used to fighting close quarters they chose those sorts of places and the clans gave up a lot of tech advantage in such sitations though double heat sinks really helped to make glass cannons ;) Nova my lovely.

We must be playing a different game. Me and my star mates are all running multiple ER PPCs and it is funny watching mechs get 1 shot the second the spawn in. This is how I have always envisioned the Clan Invasion, just mowing down wave after wave of junk mechs.

it kind of sounds like you're not leveling everything up, make sure you're grabbing all the upgrades in the science lab and upgrading the chasis themselves. I've been finding assaults last maybe a few seconds when i decide they are next to blow up. A whole lance of mechs is taking me about 7 seconds to blow up. Most things can't reach me in time to return fire.

They feel good as long as you set up your star right

Hello there!
To an extent, it does feel somewhat meh. That extent disappears once you set up the mechs yourself. The omnipod system is, pretty much, just you choosing which hardpoints you want to have and then actually customizing it. The given ones - loadouts... some are ok, most feel ... well you can do it better.

I set up an Executioner with 8 ERMeds and 5 MPLAS with full damage and duration upgrades, and it's basically a butter knife even on Hard. 116 damage alpha melts through anything under 90 tons in a single volley, and it cycles so fast you can clear the screen before your lance starts shooting. Freeunbirthing never felt so good.

I am stealing this forever.
Just to explain myself cause a lot of people are assuming what i didn't do.

I am a MW5 merc vet and again heavy with mods where the clans where something to be feared but in MW5 I can go around with 1 of each mech in my lance, In this game when they say you need to meet or match the tonnage you really need too or your going to have a bad time.

And in that it feels way under powered because even with a heavy mech I feared clan lights cause they could take my legs out if I didn't pay attention

Aha. Well, any reasonable Clansman will be the first to tell you that the Clans are not invincible. As powerful as their mechs are, it's really the quality of the warriors. Something often said in combat aviation is that it's not the machine, but the pilot, and that a skilled pilot in an obsolete plane can take a newbie with all the tech advantages. Same thing applies to Battletech and we see it over and over in the novels.

Best way I have found is to tell all star members to hold a location. Sometimes due to the confines of a map it's not possible to engage at long range unfortunately.
By that point in the game you are expected to take out mixed Brigades of IS stuff with a Star of Mechs. That is... Powered enough, I think. The sheer fact that you can do that.

A reinforced Heavy Company of Mechs supported by a reinforced company of CVees and what feels like a company of VTOLs. With ASF assets.

Against a Star.

This isn't a fight that should be even possible to win, really.
