Simpods worth doing?
For one, it lets you replay the various missions.
For another, it gives a small amount of exp when you complete them.
Don't know if there's more benefits to doing the optional challenges (such as tonnage limit) since I've only tried it once so far.

only a bit of XP for the challenges

there is no reason to do it other than to get small portions of XP if you are close to an omnipod or like light mechs.
short answer. no, not at all.

They count for milestone unlocks which add a massive amount of XP to your mech. If you just unlocked a Timberwolf and want to also unlock multiple omnipod options before you roll it out in the first mission for example, this is the only way to do it.

So yeah, if thats what you want to do, they are worth doing.

Thats all I use them for, just for the singular purpose of unlocking the milestones and extra sets.

Unfortunately most of them are just copy/pastes from MWO, and the Galaxy ones look nothing like the actual CSJ unit colours.

yes, but I don't as every mission is wander down a narrow hall and kill a regiment or three on your way. So might as well work on the current mechs I need as you need kills to complete them to unlock stuff.

When I unlock the 100ton mech I might as I need a bunch of light kills the end missions can't provide. So replay a 200 ton mission it is!
