Is this game full of Boss fights?
If it is I would like to know so can return it before my window closes. Boss fights are not a part of Battletech of any military game for that matter. Thanks.

Depends on what you mean by boss fights. There are a couple of sokol fights (hours apart), there are also setpieces in which you have do something while fighting lances of mechs. Its not filled with them, most missions are just fighting mixed military stuff sans infantry.

Also by the time you see your second sokol you fight 3 of them and personally i beat all 3 in literally 15 seconds so I wouldn't call it a boss fight. You're in heavies by that time.

But yeah if you actually had an issue with them just tap R twice to target one of the engines then tell the ai to focus one engine at a time. Kills them fast.

There is a boss fight in the third/fourth mission. You fight a spongy aero ship with massive hit points and even the "hit the glowie spot for extra damage" trope. This is not what any of the previous mechwarrior games have ever been about. sigh I'm out.

its not a "glowie hit the spot for extra damage trope" the engines are just targetable so you can tell your star to hit them. They have extra arrows on them and stuff to let you know you can target them. Just like EVERY other vtol in battletech and mechwarrior if you shoot the engines they go down faster (even warriors go down faster if you shoot the rotors lmao)... just like if you shoot a mech in the head.

Edit to double clarify: Hitting the "glowie weakspots" as you put it doesn't do extra damage at all. Just like MOST OTHER ENEMIES IN THE GAME AND EVERY OTHER BATTLETECH/MECHWARRIOR GAME it has different health pools for different areas. Just like if you blow up a mechs legs it can't walk if you blow up a vtols engines it can't fly. This is how its always worked. it doesn't have a massive health pool, the helicopter was just torso twisting you and you were spreading damage lmao.

That vtol is called a sokol btw.

Mechwarrior has ALWAYS been about shooting weak spots lmao. Literally every mech you shoot at has you shooting at specific spots to do more damage when you focus fire them. ITS THE ENTIRE SERIES.

You can dislike the game if you want, i don't care, but at least understand that you, for some reason, forgot how this game series works on a fundamental level literally because of a couple of hud elements. Like you threw out your entire understanding of the series because of a couple of hud elements you didn't understand lmao. AND that lack of understanding led to you getting torso twisted by a vtol lol.

It is just a unit, with targetable sections.

Later you fight 3 of them at the same time. It isn't a boss. It is just a tough unit.

This is also a game designed around shooting targetable sections...

Every Mechwarrior game I have played, battletech games as well have revolved around taking out different parts of the mech in an attempt to get them down fast instead of just hitting the torso all the time.

You make a very good point. Up until now I hadn't realized this because historically non-mech opfor units in past games always seemed to have just one hitbox (now that you mentioned it, HBS BT did have different armor/internal values for different parts for vehicles too though I never thought twice about it)

This is not true lol. Sandblasting is a 100% legit tactic even in competitive MWO where you can load up on scattershot LBX and SRM and just spray the target mech all over with big raw damage/dps.

You can though it's are less effective then focusing fire on a single location and in the end even sandblasting is trying to take down a target area to kill a target just less effectively
