last paragraph:
The Digital Collectors Edition Content is delivered as an experience within the game menus.
We know that those who purchase the Digital Collector's Edition are some of the most dedicated MechWarrior fans. That's why we maintain the value of the Digital Collector's Edition by updating and expanding the Digital Collectors Content (Digital Sound Track, Art Book and Technical read out ) as we release new title updates and DLC.
Your support allows us to continue evolving the game, and we’re excited to keep delivering new updates that enhance your Digital Collectors Edition.
Well, I guess that's the answer as to way they didn't do a GOG release. When you buy a sound track there it comes in separate files. Not locked inside the game still.
Honestly, why the hell would ANYONE throw money away by locking the sound track inside the game where the only place you can listen to it is in the game still? And I'd imagine the same would all be true about the art book and tech readout.
Honesrtly, PGI... what the HELL were you thinking??
Your nutbar conspiracies notwithstanding, Russ has repeatedly said they will be targeting GOG in a post release period. You can very likely expect the soundtrack and technical readout to be available outside of the game in due time as well. For now, it's under the collector's edition menu in game.
Ok, for one thing, I've been looking for ANY news of a GOG release and I haven't seen anything. Every time I've tried to get a direct answer about a GOG release I don't get any info. But you know what, I'm happy to be prove wrong about that any time.
And none the less I still think locking the sound track inside the game was a bad idea. I bought Mercs on GOG. When they had new music or a new tech readout they just put it dropped it in with the rest of the content. Put it all inside the game was still a dumb decision. Their was no reason to do that. Some of the sound track from Mercs is in my MP3 player to this day. I like it while I'm on the treadmill.
Yeah, same. Same. And I too hope they will sort it out eventually.
And honestly, I guess I'm just more easily angered by things like that just seems to do nothing for the customer.
While they may have had this on their site. It's nowhere in Steam. For some reason it's the one paragraph that is missing in the identical post they made on Steam. It's also not mentioned in the Store Page for the DLC itself. I want to also mention I don't think this was intentional and am willing to give the benefit of the doubt that it's a simple copy/paste mistake.
The post from PGI is corporate double speak that basically amounts to "We really needed to charge 70$ for the game because of actual development costs and the profit margins we want, but we couldn't realistically do that, so we've basically made a minimal effort tier for $20 more that gives us more of a profit margin. This way we can pay our developers for the work they're doing and cover the costs of the bug fixing and DLC Development we're going to have to do."
The CE stuff being locked to in game only, ESPECIALLY the sound track, is class A robbery and as close to bait-and-switch / not providing the materials you paid for as I've ever seen any game company try to pull. If you're not going to put the effort into an OST, don't put the effort into the OST...but don't also advertise the OST as a feature of your "Collectors Edition" either.
This would have much better been handled as "We do not have the OST available at launch due to the other efforts we are under with the game at this time. Please be patient, we will eventually deliver the full experience as you paid for in the Collectors Edition."
