ABOUT THAT:
This game doesn't actually register cockpit hits as such. Had a panther bug out (AI just stood there) and I tested it. Top of head counted as torso. Middle of head counted as head shot, half the time, otherwise torso again.
The hit boxes absolutely do not line up with the mech models. I SUSPECT there may be like 3 hit boxes used, and they are superimposed on the closest model.
My second hypothesis is that the attacks and graphics for attacks don't line up.
A good way to see what I mean is by shooting at the legs of jenners and spiders.
Record a fight using nvidia capture and replay it so you can see what part of the nemy mech flashes.
or do overheat lol... the mechs dont' shut down in this game overheating just turns off your weapons as long as you don't overide... so overheat away lol
On plus side you'll never fall on your head
Same issue in MW5:M, you just have to aim better. Spread has impact here too. Try the Sim Pods there is a shooting range map to test your aim.
Also disabling "Aim assist" helps tremendously with headshots ;)
