It lacks a ton of Clan mechs... they aint in the game or were cut out for DLCs.
That's why this game is trash.
They allready broke lore with their "research upgrades" anyways... and clan warriors using melee combat. Might aswell let us access a bigger catalogue of mechs... not to mention IICs are better then most of the early omnimechs anyways.
The one thing I wish this game did better is make your clan mechs actually *feel* superior. The difference between the clan mechs we pilot early in the game and the IS mechs we're fighting doesn't feel as dramatic as it should. Mostly because the maps are so CQC, I think.
IICs were essentially only assigned to garrison and solahma units (read: often the same thing), at least pre-Dark Ages (which this game is very much before), so they wouldn't be used or even brought along by the initial invasion force, AFAIK.
It was just that they were rally the elite guard of the clans to the invasion.
They took the very best pilots, the best mechs they had.
IS mechs were second grade mechs since they were outdated models.
The reason why the clans lost is they had put every egg in the basket and comstar crushed them.
You're wrong if you think omni-mechs were common amongst clans. These were all they got, they took the very best they had and lost by the full circle that all your weapons will end up in the hands of enemies.
They had inner sphere mech blueprints but over time metal fatigue takes its toll that the clans had to make new mechs while inner sphere kept mass produce the same models. The clans had to make new models because of stratified economy, the inner sphere only made new models to profit on contracts of fool me twice tactics. Perhaps, making a new mech with a cool name like assassin and sell it only for its name.
The fool me twice tactics of the inner sphere would bite them in their rear since they were in economic wars with the houses on who could make the worst mech.
