Tell that to the 60% of the playerbase stuck on the Sokal lol.
I've been playing on 'expert' difficulty and the AI are dumb as rocks and will walk right into the middle of your star and get gang-banged.
What the higher difficult does do is make them squishier and make their weapons do more damage (which is completely unlike the experience written about in the fiction as inner sphere tech is far outdated compared clan tech)
As far as how many at a time, I have not been pounding 20 mechs at the same time, they are broken it groups you encounter as you progress through the maps. The maps have been relatively closed without large open spaces which would restrict such a large number of simultaneous mechs from running around, but this may change as i get further into the game.
Here it's much worse. You'll get many heavy lances put against you one after the other.
Did you finish the game? I'm probably near the end now, playing on Normal, and so far I had to replay 4 missions. The amount of enemy heavy lances the game puts on me is unbelievable.
At any rate, since the Dragon's Gambit update they have a much more detailed difficulty setting system. You can make it as easy or hard as you like.
You can also 'adjust' difficulty with drop tonnage since there no limit anymore.
I guarantee if you keep playing, you'll get better at the game. This thread is full of people complaining about difficulty and running out of ammo and Jesus Christ. I know it's steam forums but come on guys...
He is saying it's bad, not that it's difficult, it's immersion breaking, the individual enemies require no skill to take down, they just march into your face.
Are you talking about this game? You only have 3 difficulties (2 really) and fixed tonnage limit.
