There is an Expert difficulty option as well that I haven't (and won't) try.
As for mission design, I'm sure you'll be mowing down a lot of mechs.
SLIGHTLY less turret and urbanmech spam.
I swear it's like the new devs never even played MW2 or M4 Mercs, those old games were so much better.
Also in MW4 Mercs you can wipe out a bunch of Jade Falcon stars with two IS lances so it's not like this ♥♥♥♥ is new.
The biggest problem in difficulty is that you have all these fancy new technologies that let you overpower IS mechs, but the maps are designed around such close quarters fighting that you can't leverage said tech at all. If the game wasn't throwing nothing but spiders, commandos, jenners, and panthers at you for the first planet outside of boss fights, you'd just get wiped every mission.
Seriously, build for CQC. Long range is basically useless because there's so much cover that the range edge is meaningless. At least on the first planet.
Whose idea was that? They need a smack in the mouth.
I spent 3 ac10 and 3 lrm with lrm15 bins and that was like 2/3 mission length.
If you dont go perfect all special rewards in sim, you are screwd.
If you do, your ammo screwd.
I cant afford more than 6 tonns of ammo to chew through stuff.
And its either that, or ppc/laser builds.
