25 hours is the perfect amount of time to play a game. I find shorter games more enjoyable than 100-hour ones.

Or, you could make it like MW5:Mercs, have a campaign that you can blast through in 15 hours or so but also have the option to spend more time. Almost like it's not mutual exclusive. They should have built upon their systems, not abandon everything as if nothing worked in the past game.

It's a shame that sequels almost always just try to reinvent the wheel instead of just building onto their foundations... see it way too often. Is it too much to ask to have a well written story campaign, cut scenes and also a sandbox mode? Especially if you already had a working procedural generation system working?

Exactly. There's really only one game in recent memory that I can think of that made a sequel and instead of re-inventing the wheel, they improved upon what made the previous game good to begin with.

Sins of a solar empire 2 is a perfect example of how to improve upon your foundation without screwing up what made the previous game great.

I guess you didn't see how that game was met with the usual "Why should I get this game (Sins II) it's just the previous game with a few extras. It should have been DLC." as well.

this guy proves my point. Everything he says is argumentative, negative, and acts like anyone with a different opinion than him is wrong.

Not everything is a fight. Stop looking at everything as "how can I win this agreement" and just talk like a normal human being.

3/4 of all posts today I have seen have the same opinions as I do.

Why not a DLC to MW5 Mercs? Why not call it MW6, why no CAREER mode? But no, single me out as being the problem here. Keep acting as if I am the only one here with the opinions in order to "win" some sort of made up argument that only you are apart of.
I'll give you easy and honest feedback,
1. Career Mode does not make sense in the clan invasion you are not a merc if you read up on the lore you would understand why.
2. actually what other points did you try to make?

Sure, and I am not about to tell anyone to stop being a discerning customer, but I personally do not think a Clans focused game would benefit from a watered down, I.E. Sandboxed, campaign just to pad out the length of the game play. I, and I cannot emphasise this point enough, thoroughly enjoyed MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries, but its highlights definitely were the few hand crafted missions and not the one hundred hour flitting around the star map.

I agree and I am glad that they are different games. It's not like I lose access to MW5 as soon as this game comes out. So if I want that style I will just load it up for whenever I am in the mood for it.

also I feel that seeing how they named it MW5 instead of 6, everyone who owned MW5Mercs should have got a discount

This isn't a first for the series.

Mechwarrior 2 and then later they released Mechwarrior 2 Mercenaries that was stand alone.

Mechwarrior 4 Vengence, and then later they released Mechwarrior 4 Mercenaries as a stand alone.

And now we have Mechwarrior 5 Mercenaries, and then Clans as a Stand alone.

While you are correct, Mechwarrior 2 and 4 are so old and such small games comparatively to the tech available to devs now. The bugs, the 0 replay value, and the still horrendous enemy and ally AI is a real shame given the gap between your aforementioned entries and this one.

Definite a wait for a sale and modders to fix PGIs lazyness. If it was perhaps a 30$ game it'd be a little more fairly priced for what appears to be on offer at launch.

In 2024 "game press" words are worthless.
Authors do not play games, do not know what games about.
And they just reuse the same talking points.
Only store reviews.
And press, press can go... eat chicken or something.

we arent mercs....we're playing as the clan. Kinda of a stupid thing to cry about? Do you actually know anything about the battletech universe?

Doesn't sound or look too bad, I really like the improvements to the models though human wise.

Games pass gonna be making a killing. Cheap to try out, can get later on sale if needed. This and stalker 2 back to back. Can't lose, really
