MechWarrior 5: Clans, What's next?
I know the game was released not long ago, not even a month ago, however, I find myself worried that such a linear game will lose its ability to retain a player base. I love the game (for the most part) but I am hoping at some point they release a sandbox mode similar to Mercenaries. Or, the ability to play as other Clans. What are people's thoughts, would you like more story-driven content that was handcrafted, or would you rather have a procedurally created sandbox mode?

I am sure we'll be getting a DLC in the future in post-endgame, depending on the decision of who you sided with, your Colbat Unit or the Wolf Dragoons. Personally, I expect to see something like "Operation Bulldog" or fighting off new clans like the Diamond Shark.

Linear games aren't old. MechWarrior 5: Clans is a huge improvement over Mercenaries. Best campaign in the series by far.

I grew up with MW1 and other games in that vain, so I'm aware they aren't new. Regarding you're "MW5:M Comment: It may indeed be better (however I disagree), but there is far less of it (less content) and while later this may indeed be addressed, right now it's an issue. So, we'll see. I would like to take part in Operation Bulldog though, that would be pretty cool. By the way, what platform did you play MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries on?

I own Mech Warrior 5: Mercenaries on PC from the Epic Game store.

Im finishing up a merc campaign right now after finishing clans. still havent tried mw5 mercs with all the mods or solaris dlc yet.

I beat clans pretty quickly but that game engrossed me with the story too.

mercs im finally into endgame stuff and almost finished with story campaign, just got the nightstar and looking for annilators, atlas d, mad2, maybe go for all the hero mechs on a career playthrough.

i think i am doing this backwards from PGI intentions considering mercs story leads right into clans basically

then i want to replay clans and do the warden path eventually

idk, i do want to mess with a modded mw5 mercs play through with all the goodies people use, yaml, clan stuff, coyotes missions, vonbiomes and vonhud, and some gfx mods since MW 5 Clans graphics have kinda spoiled me for lasers and ppcs.

whats the next major event in the IS after the clan invasion? the jihad? fedcom civil war?

IMO, one of the most notable events after the Clan invasion is the formation of the Gray Death Legion. The Gray Death Legion played a pivotal role in crushing the Clan Invasion.

Im sure we'll get a DLC and I hope it'll be a campaign as the IS against one of the other clan invasions. And I hope its HARD.

Its a long time ago i read the books, but im quite sure the Legion formed way before the Clans were a thing. I think there was a later storyline about there rebuilding though.
Ahh damn, now i realy need to read the books again ^^

What. The Gray Death Legion initially formed in 3024, what are you talking about?

Sarna is not always correct, but unless you have a more authoritative element. Oh wait.

This book is from 1986

Again, their official formation was AFTER the clan invasion, read what I said

"The Gray Death Legion played a pivotal role in crushing the Clan Invasion."
this means the took part in many of the battles but they were not an official company/unit until the end of the clan invasion and certainly not the size of which they'd grow to be AFTER said invasion.

Now!, I've got surats to smoke!

Uh... you do know what they're most famous for, righ?
Finding the Helm Memory Core and spreading it around to all corners of the Inner Sphere.

So why are they: a full 'Mech Regiment with added ASF and an Infantry Battalion in 3040 then? "Not that big."
For 3050 it lists a full 'mech regiment, 3 infantry companies, an armoured company and a reinforced ASF company (5 lances) along with a trio of dropships.
They would suffer a heavy defeat on Sudeten, of course.

Pfft, everyone knows the Grey Death Legion is a smoke screen conspiracy cooked up by Comstar and Wolf's Dragoons to counteract the sabotage being done by Word of Blake, they're not really real.

I swear in MW5 Mercs the Gray Death is one of the merc companies in DC space.

They were. They were originally formed after Grayson Death Carlyle, the original founder, left Trell 1 with 3 mechs, and a bunch of infantry platoons back in the mid 3020's.

After the initial clan invasion, they did have to rebuild, as when Jade Falcon took Sudeten, the Falcons weren't very nice to the Legion.

But in the timeline of Mechwarrior 5: Mercs, they shouldn't have been active until after 3025.
