question about the shilone bomber mission.....
how you beat the 3 Vtols that are near indestructable at the end of mission while you are allready battered up from fights?

By changing loadouts to something better and focus firing the enemy down all the way through the engagement.

Vtols having twice the armor of an Atlas is hardcore ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. And ANYONE not seeing this has no idea of Battletech.

Engines go down pretty fast with energy laser when you actually hit the engine it's pretty easy. Harder to do with other weapons.

PPC's rip the engines off pretty quickly too, and your Starmates are decent shots with them as well.

Dont just select target the VTOL, you can select target the individual engines and order your Star to concentrate fire on them

ok thanks alot will try.

But still this isnt battletech. A WHOLE star of clan mechs shooting at a "VTOL" wtf..... if the inner sphere and ANYTHING like this they wouldnt need mechs.

And beside the shilone bombers are entirely useless anyway if they got VTOLs that make an Atlas look like a light mech.

This is horrible design sorry

The whole Sokol situation screams that PGI wanted to have something like the Avenger show up but they didn't have the time or resources to implement it so they just scaled up the Igor and called it a day.

Twice? Well, okay, maybe. Let's say the entire armor of two Atlas - per engine. Who came up with this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ idea after all? This is so, SO entirely wrong in the BT-Universe. That is not how VTOL's work in BT, not even close, not the slightest. An insult to all players is still to friendly. A Union-drophsip has less armor than that stupid thing. Like really, 222 points of Damage to one side kills a union. 12 shots with an AC20. Boom. But not this VTOL. No, sir.

You need to target the engines and tell your mates to attack. And run around a lot they really really don't like you personally.

There has GOT to be some lore friendly IS VTOLs that could have been used instead - there's a mission in MW5 mercs where you have to hoof it across 2-3 kilometers of ground before reaching the target and you get absolutely swarmed with VTOLs and tanks. It was gloriously silly having a lance of assault mechs ground down by sheer weight of numbers and IMHO it would be a plausible tactic used by desperate IS commanders after having what amounts to whole companies of mechs turned to slag by a binary of clanners.

The even sillier thing is that in a later mission they actually DO throw a dropship with a gun truck conversion at you, so why even bother with the Sokol?
