MechWarrior 5: Clans

MechWarrior 5: Clans

Statistiche:
Assault mechs only in later missions?
I would prefer to have late game missions that are geared towards lower total weight limits.

Having the missions arc towards five Daishi's towards the end seems .... unClan-like. Super easy to imagine late game missions that are scouting or hit and run rather than destroy a battalion / Cluster worth of opposing assault mechs. Honestly, knowing the lore a little, I find it immersion-breaking to think that the various IS factions have pristine battalions of mechs ready to throw at my Star.

Also, practically, it makes previous pilot proficiencies obsolete, and makes you lose all the enhancements you've earned with previous mechs / weight classes.

You can still use light mechs (at least for your personal mech, if not the entire star) right up to the last 2-3 missions of the campaign. Only the last one, and maybe only the Warden arc, really punishes you for taking less than 75 ton mechs.
As said above, only the last 3 missions, especially the last one, is very punishing, that you really need to have a lot of fire power and survivability. There are more than enough missions for each Mech weight to give them enough upgrades.
The affinities are tricky, recommended to save by the end (which I didn't) but I still managed.

I really enjoyed must missions, replaying on the Sim has been fun too, get to try different combos, loadouts, tactics.
Wrote this before: It's absolutely outstanding to get a game so focused on a main storyline these days. Usually this is absolutely unheard of. Games these days just need their grind-fest side-content, right? Not MW5 Clans though.

But...I think there is still an opportunity. Maybe a DLC later. Adding in side-missions that are optional but fill the role of your original lances area of expertise, scouting. So missions with loiwer tonnage limit running before or alongside of larger operations as support and that will net you maybe a few bonus items or paint jobs.

This way you could still focus on the main story event if you want to, but can also take out your "old" mechs that are otherwise just collecting dust in the hangar. :)
It could have been that you get "scout tasking" missions occasionally, or "go find and tag the enemy for LRM support" type stuff. But no, you just roll around in 5 assaults after the 2nd planet it seems.
