What isn't mentioned is that ballistics have no damage drop off. A Gauss Rifle or LB-10X hit for the same damage at 100m as they do at 2km. The Gauss rifle also has a much flatter trajectory, making long distance shots easier than the LB-10x. You can even use an UAC/20 to snipe from a distance, assuming you can compensate for the trajectory and speed.
Same weapon, but Gauss rifle uses permanent magnets and railgun uses electromagnets. Or so i've been told.
Anyway, gauss rifle seems to be the most accurate weapon in the game. As it should be. I can easily snipe enemy parts off with it.
this is a huge nerf
Clan Missles need a 1.5-2.0x multiplier
5x is crazy, you can already kill almost instantly an Assault mech with quick taps on a UAC20.
The balancing for ballistics should go more about projectile speed, ROF, and available ammo (or rounds per ton of ammo).
Missiles are trickier... I think LRMs are fine, they lock on and home in in over 1km distances.
SRMs on the other hand really need a buff.
