this game looked 8 years dated when mw5:mercs came out. this seems like mw5:mercs but with cutscenes and a story, and lets be real, pgi isnt likely to do that very well given their track record. tl:dr on the track record, they suck at everything.

You should be greatful for the sequel. The Unreal Engine 5 is still new and holds up to date.

The Gameplay Preview on IGN looked worse then my modded MW5. How can that be Unreal Engine 5?! Maybe the desert map doesn't give justice to what the game can actually look.

I use UltraWeatherandVisual and WARFX which adds global illumation and extends the Visual FX of MW5 which makes the game look like a modern title.

More does not mean better, especially with PGI.

Yeah...... whoever is doing the teaser vid has no clue HOW to attract interest. Not to mention the Just outta high school fresh faces supposed pilots? And the juvenile overly Hollywooded voice script? Looks like the Mechwarrior version of Starship Troopers.

Something a tad more hard core would meet a better reception imho. Aaaaah well. Hopefully they juice it up a bit. Remove the Kiddies, and bring in battle hardened Vets. A rougher look.

As for the Graphics..... they look dated. This doesn`t look at all like what I was expecting or hoping for from the Unreal 5 Nanite Engine. Modded MW 5 does look much better.

Perhaps they had polygon limits so consoles could play it.

You should never expect low-mid budget to push visual that's what AAA is for. Especially when it's a game originally made with UE4/last-gen console in mind (even if those version were canceled)

Why not? These days it's not that hard to have good graphics especially when the PC can be turned up and down and the console can have fixed settings to their capabilities.
The real shame of it is that we could have so much more if the console market was not part of the equation.

You know I have just realised that this may be why a slew of games lately have had more superficial settings that do not increase texture quality as much as "effects" settings. Effects being much easier to turn up and down compared to textures which must be created for each settting assumedly.

i wouldn't be playing MW5 that much if there weren't any visual mods turning up the visual quality and i also think that especially MECH-Games are about immersion and in this case it's stuff like cool looking Mechs, Explosions, Lasers, Cannons, Visual Eyecandy. TBF, the base game looks really dated and kinda boring.

And releasing a game in 2024 for the future years, the game should also be in a good technical state for the future.

Yeah it's because the devs took all the previous assets and copied them over. So it's essentially the same just a bit tweaked. No fancy UE5 features like nanite or volumetric explosions in this release. Maybe in Mechwarrior 6 in another four or five years we will see better graphics when they remake everything and they are on UE6 perhaps.

The mechs look better, the terrain looks a lot worse. Gotta make it work on consoles too right? :-)

That explains why the system requirements is still the same as MW5 Mercs. It'll be the same game LOL

I thought it was just a placeholder (it has been for 6 months now), but I now think otherwise after seeing the gameplay trailer.

I think they just upgraded the engine to UE5 so they have an excuse to not make this game a DLC for mercs instead?

If you knew about the story of the game you would know why those fresh pilots are so young. long story short, the clans are basically Spartans, those recruits have been training since childhood and so are ready to fight. That guy yelling at them with the scars? in clan society it's a miracle someone that age is still alive and commanding anyone instead of being kicked into a walking coffin.
