New WIP Manual lacks all the charm of the original
I've had a skim through the new manual that was linked in the delay announcement and while I understand it's a WIP I was still disappointed to find it lacking in the charm of the original.
The Original Manual had a significant amount of period photographs alongside the game play images and layout wise, while clearly dated generally feels nicer to read and more professional.

I'm hoping as the manual is refined alongside the game it can be updated to the standards of the original, but as it currently stands, it feels quite 'soul-less'

What is all wrong with you guys nowadays? It is a WIP manual. Couldn't you just write "I wish for the final manual to have the charm of the original"? No...instead you have to blame on a WIP manual.

Luckily I still have the original.

Mmn, it's included in the original game on both GOG and Steam thankfully, I also have (90%) of a paper copy lying around somewhere, it's a *fantastic* manual which is why I want to see it done justice for Redux.

Yeah, there's a few photos but I don't think it's a huge deal, personally. At least the new manual has color images instead of B&W, which makes it easier to see what they're showing. (I.E. cockpit instrumentation, etc.)

Could be more images though, manual is still technically a WIP. I do wish they'd elaborate more on what stuff like navigation and norden complexity do. (I know at least with navigation on flawless you can't get lost, but what's the difference between normal and easy? What's norden complexity do? Crew initiative? They have the source code so they do have the answers.)

Yes, there will be more period photographs in the manual as it continues to be completed! Also, there are some original training manual illustrations already incorporated that add to the charm. The priority is getting more extensive screenshots of menus and user experience than the original had, then supplementary historical materials should be added.

There is also a web version in the works for easier accessibility than the PDF. A revised PDF with table of contents links to the sections is also in the next revision.

- "What is all wrong with you guys nowadays?" | There's nothing wrong with anyone but you seem to be a tad dramatic.

- "Couldn't you just write "I wish..." | That is exactly what he wrote.
