Calligraphy

Okay, so I've been stuck on the calligraphy for ages. I've been back to 18 sooooo many times trying with mouse and trackpad and I'm getting nowhere. Any suggestions? I've tried quite a few things. Not sure I can progress through the game without getting through calligraphy!

I hate that puzzle so much. But you don't actually have to fill in the entire stroke of paint. You just have to do like, a tiny little bit of paint for each stroke, like 10% of the fill in stencil,. Almost like putting the paintbrush on the paper and then lifting it up. I hope that makes sense, it's hard to describe.
