STEAM NANCY DREW GAME ISSUES FOR WINDOWS AND MAC USERS

Hi Everyone,

Good Morning or Good Night (whereever your located),

I am a Mac user for Nancy Drew games and for me my game will not even load. It says running then does not load.

I looked through this Dicussion Board and It seems that everyone is having a problem with Most of the Older Nancy Drew Games on Steam.

I reached out to Steam Support for help and They did not help at all.

So I took there own advice and reached out to HerInteractive for help. HerInteractive told me that they know exactly why their games will not work on steam.

This is the email they sent me:

The drmfix that you are seeing is likely short for Digital Rights Management fix. Digital rights management (DRM) is a systematic approach to copyright protection for digital media. This is likely related to the proprietary installer that Steam has created for the game.

You may want to try uninstalling and reinstalling Steam, as that often fixes issues for Steam users, though we cannot guarantee it will fix the issue you are running into.

THE SALE MENTIONED IN THE EMAIL WAS FOR LAST YEAR. IT WILL NOT BE HAPPENING IN AUGUST OF 2018!

Now this is some of the issues that you have posted about but there is also the matter of the game "running" and not loading.

My guess is that the Steam Software and the older Nancy Drew Games are clashing with each other. I had no problem playing the game when I first bought it but now it won't load at all.

FOR EVERYONE WHO IS POSTING ON THE DISCUSSION BOARD ABOUT THEIR GAMES NOT WORKING, I HONESTLY FEEL THAT THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!

WE HAVE ALL REACHED OUT TO SUPPORT ABOUT THESE VARIOUS ISSUES AND THEY HAVE NOT HELPED US AT ALL.

NO ONE WANTS A REFUND, ALL WE WANT IS TO PLAY THIS GAME AND WHEN WE CAN'T WE ASK FOR A REFUND AND ITS DENIED.

I AM SICK AND TIRED OR READING ALL OF YOUR POSTS ABOUT THIS GAME AND IT IS VERY SAD AND DISHEARTENING TO SEE SO MANY PEOPLE HAVING ISSUES AND NOT SEEING THESE ISSUES RESOLVED.

AS FOR THE ADVICE THAT HERINTERACTIVE GAVE ME, I UNDERSTAND THAT THE GAME IS WAY MUCH CHEAPER HERE ON STEAM BUT IT SEEMS THAT THE BEST BET IS TO BUY THE NANCY DREW GAMES THROUGH HERINTERACTIVE SINCE WE WILL HAVE A SUPPORT TEAM TO HELP US WITH ANY ISSUE.

I AM REACHING OUT TO HERINTERACTIVE AND SCREENSHOTTING ALL OF THESE DISCUSSION BOARD POSTINGS.

MY HOPE IS THAT THEY CAN TELL US EXACTLY WHAT IS WRONG AND IF WE CAN PINPOINT THE EXACT ISSUE, MAYBE WE CAN TRY TO REACH OUT TO A STEAM AGAIN TO SEE IF THEY CAN RESOLVE THIS ISSUE.

I am having the same issues and I am very disappointed :( Hopefully they'll deal with this soon....

Hi Everyone,

Quick Update: HerInteractive has not gotten back to me, They are probably very busy. I saw on amazon that this came and captive curse is 4.19 for Mac and Windows.

The reviews were saying people had a hard time downloading the game but I still took a risk and purchased captive curse and guess what! IT WORKS. I AM PLAYINN RIGHT NOW. Also the newer games are like 11.99.

So much cheaper. Its not like using steam but you will always have the game in your amazon account and if anything reach out to Amazon and they should give a refund or reach out to your bank!

I will keep you all updated on HerInteractive’s Response!
