This is a very under-appreciated classic that flew under the radar of so many when it first came out, it's still a hidden gem not known by many. What we have here is an RPG like no other, there aren't any ghouls and goblins, dragons and magic, it's real life, we're in a South American country and we have to pick which sides to support (Government, Bandits, Guerillas etc.) take missions, earn money, use money to further our goals and get better equipment, vehicles so on and so forth.

I never forget, back when I was first playing the game I spent an hour working as a bus driver to earn money for equipment, it's an extremely immersive classic and I recommend it wholeheartedly.

Just as bad, ugly, buggy and broken as I remember.
On a serious note - it's Far Cry 3 before Far Cry 3. Overly ambitious game by inexperienced developers. Result is so bad it's kinda even good.

We need a remake of this game.

the greatest, funniest, and weirdest Deus Ex clone you've never played, and STALKER's misunderstood cousin. Boiling Point is a product of unrestrained ambition that would never be made today, made by GSC Game World alumni that worked on Codename: Outbreak; after that game was released, the people who worked on Codename: Outbreak's engine left GSC and formed Deep Shadows.

this is a game that respects the player's choices - but it's also deeply flawed. it has a great and reactive open world that you don't really see in many games, many interesting systems that interact with each other in interesting ways - but the game also struggles under the weight of its own ambition. the production values of this game is just straight up raw, and it'll always be such; the sound system is messed up and weird, the lighting engine breaks randomly, the AI is uneven, and the game poorly explains many of its core systems, leaving the player to pick up the pieces. on the flip side - there's a ton of content, and a lot of it is entertaining and challenging. you actually feel like an ex-army guy going out to the middle of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nowhere, South America to rescue his daughter; you have to be careful in firefights and make your shots count, look after your armor, health, weaponry, and car (yes, this game will make you care about keeping your car in decent shape), you gotta worry about drug addiction, and working for one faction will lead to bad relations with another faction.

despite this game's flaws - if you wanna experience Saul Myer's wild ride, then go for it. there's really nothing else like Boiling Point

My favorite childhood game. Buggy, but very atmospheric and pleasant) I am glad that I was able to purchase it in the Steam.

Boiling Point is the overly ambitious, east-european jank-masterpiece of a Open World Shooter-RPG pretty much any other games wants to be. I played the old Retail Version for many hours and I just never get bored from it.

Don´t get me wrong, the game is jank all around, but it´s the kind of jank you can and want to get used to simply because very few games to this day give you as much freedom as Boiling Point.

On a side note, both sound sliders in the options where at their lowest value by default for me, but I guess that´s just part of the charming jankyness.

Surprisingly dynamic open world game for its time, with a story that ends with a really weird twist

The Steam version sits in some really odd patch limbo, but I have crashed exactly once in roughly 30 hours of gameplay (upon loading a quicksave)

Despite it's aged mechanics. It's Fallout New Vegas in late 1990's early 2000's south america. Factions are diverse and surprisingly the gunplay is fun once you get a reliable weapon. While there are issues I would recommend getting this gem.
