OMG, Its HARPOON!
Why did nobody sy, Hey, this is HAPOON, but like, updated. Wow.

Harpoon is of course the greatest real-time battle sim ever. And, I just loaded Arctic Circle for the first time and Boom, I was back in the Greenland Iceland UK Gap, but this game's interface was so intuitive, within 2-3 mins I had a couple of planes launched and a clear set of goals (kill 5 surface ships)

I should go and tell those fighters to go high and turn on their active sensors so I can find those ships.

and, the most awesomest bit of all, is that little window on the bottom that gives me a view of whatever ship/plane I have selected, just like Harpoon on my Amiga 500 (which could barely run it) gave me a nice/crappy view and some details about what boat I select.

This looks like it's going to be my favorite rts game for while.

I mean, I got it on sale the other day at 75% off, but I'd seen this game around for a while, I just didn't know, and the reviews I read were, I dont know. I just wish I'd bought it sooner.

HA, Back in high-school (when the Amiga 500 was the awesomest thing around) my computer could only handle playing Harpoon in near-real time. Too complex for the Amiga to handle. So I'd give orders to units in Harpoon right before school and come home 5-6 hours (leaving the computer to just play by itself all day ) and get all the reports. I'd shut the comuter down and then let it run again later sometimes all night.

Is there any Multiplayer?

oh crap, and now I'm getting intelligence reports from HQ, about where the enemy carrier is. That never happened in Harpoon, I'm really in love with this game.

There is a Multiplayer option, not sure if anyone plays it or not.

Slow your roll and put down the pipe. This is a decent game, nowhere near Harpoon's status.

yes, Hoya is correct. But, it's the closest thing to Harpoon that I can get to run on a modern computer..... I havn't tried that 70 dollar Naval/Air game yet, but if it ever goes on sale I'll get that one too.

I really should breakdown and get the Newest Harpoon, it's available somewhere I think, just not on Steam.

argh, 50 bucks. Living in the future has made me lazy, I think I paid 50 bucks for the Original boxed version.

yes had harpoon on the amiga too, what a great game that was, later bought a version for the pc but it wasnt as good the vector graphics of the ships had been replaced by blocky bitmaps and the whole interface was dated. I heard that the military bought the licence and made harpoon restricted for internal training only, blame that armchair general that at an open fleetday asked too many questions about fleet manouvering to a captain of a firgit class warship for pointing them in the right direction , I m still hoping some hacker can snatch a copy and distribute the modern version on peer to peer . ;P

If you want a modern version of harpoon look up command modern naval/air combat it started from the Harpoon 3 database and got enhanced from there.
