You also have to understand, CIG (sc devs) are creating tools that will be used by many other game companies, such as actual persistant worlds with objects that stay forever without any lag. They are pioneering gaming technology as we speak while other companies are spewing out hot garbage. I'm glad CIG has the budget it does. Also, Squadron 42 (the SP campaign) is coming out this year, or next. It's feature complete.
Starbase had the makings of something really fantastic. The ship building was amazing and the mining was satisfying as hell to do. It shot itself in the foot by 1. focusing on pvp and 2. not focusing on PVE when it had this amazing mining mechanics. It was the only recent Star game I can think of that was decent (Starfield was OKAY, Star Citizen is currently OKAY)
You post is like comparing gasoline and milk(both are liquids and can be drank. But one will kill you.
You dont build ships from scratch in SC as you do in DU
Reading this comment, I just reinstalled the game.
I am still getting 35 to 70 fps unstable in cities, nothing changed performance wise in 2 years, I am playing it now, hoping maybe it had. Even in game chat ppl are like, you got lied to. Nothing has changed.
Never said anything performance-wise has changed.
No lol. It was considered that for a long time yes and it was true. In 2024? no. Its a very solid game.
Performance has vastly changed so maybe your PC is just particularly outdated or you dont meet the recommended specs. Most players have seen their fps more than double in the past 2 years....
But CPU is still holding many people back and you won't see a guaranteed fps jump for all hardware configs until Vulkan which is "in 2024".
SC is one of those projects that.... you cant trust the timelines at all. Everything takes forever and a day. But its still one of the coolest games in existence (if not the coolest) and does have a stunning amount of content for a $45 entry price. Definitely a better space mmo than anything else on the market.
If you don't care as much about the heavy scale and depth, NMS is a better choice then. Or X4 if you want singleplayer.
"Kiddo" That says all I need to know about you.
Either way, enjoy your half-baked space games
Add to this horrible server performance after last updates and u will have ur "glorious" star citizen lol.
