Also in the "story timeline thing" It just says: You beat them/You didn't beat them. I don't know about you but if I make a move that puts them in check mate I expect to unlock the story path that says "you won" right?
at least only those that are still check (but no mate). Not sure how many of those there were, perhaps it was only the diagonal queen move, but I don't think so.
> if I make a move that puts them in check mate I expect to unlock the story path that says "you won" right?
Yeah that makes sense, if you read it as winning the game of chess.
> I read the achievement as simply a pun.
Yeah that's how I read it at first too, until I noticed that the checkmate move doesn't give you this achievement. Then I thought maybe you're *supposed* to make check but not checkmate, and I got the ach that way, so it made sense to me.
No all the moves are checks
> Yeah that makes sense, if you read it as winning the game of chess.
So since the two paths say "You beat the chess player" "You didn't beat the chess player" and the move where you 100% beat the chess player leads to the "You didn't beat the chess player" I think this is absolutely a miss on the devs part. (If the achievement is related to something else, sure go for it. But in this case even the story paths makes 0 sense)
