If you are using the server browser in steam and loading the game from that by joining a server then try, instead, to right click tfc in your steam games list and choose play game. This will take you to the tfc game screen where you can use the in game browser.
Then tell us:
Is it crashing before it even begins to load?
Are you seeing the loading screen with the heavy weapons guy?
Are you getting to the menu screen which has choices such as options etc. but the game is crashing when you try to load the 3d world?
The crash problem is in the start up menu after I launch the game and after that show picture soldier fire up his gun and then it crash. Please help me, cause I want play this game
-gl -w 800
This should open your game with the opengl renderer at 800x 600 resolution.
Does the game work this way?
If this doesn't work then remove what you put in above on the set launch options line and replace it with:
-safe
do either of these work?
Go to windows Start > Control Panel > System > Advanced > Performance > Data Execution Prevention.
Choose "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select:"
Then choose "Add". You will need to add Steam.exe to the list (default location is C:\Program FIles\Steam)
Then "Add" again hl.exe (default location is C:\Program Files\Steam\Steamapps\common\Half-Life
If you have any questions about this post back.
If disabling Data Execution Prevention for "hl.exe" doesn't work, try switching into software mode. To do this, add -soft to the launch options.
Windowed mode should also be less error prone, the options for it are: -sw -w 800 -h 600 (for a 800 x 600 window size).
A list of launch options can be found here:
