What does Counter-Strike have to do with Half-Life? They're called modifications. A different game on the same engine.

What does TF2 have to do with HL2? Nothing.

I'm glad its in the bundle; I wouldn't have owned it otherwise.

I think it's because the vintage bundle is supposed to be a sort of proto-Orange Box. So a new player can get every relevant game in two purchases (like I did.)

Bah, when I posted I forgot there was that middle pack. Your point doesn't seem silly now. I assumed CS was in the Half-Life 1 Anthology.

Half-Life 1 Anthology
Half-Life Complete
Complete Pack

Before Steam, when you bought HL on disc TFC wasn't separate. It used your HL CD-Key, and TFC would usually be bundled along with Deathmatch Classic. They were both nods to Quake rather than serious mods at the time I think, as they were planning or working on TF2 at the time.

VALVe bought TFC when it was known as Team Fortress, and included it as part of the package to compete with Quake Arena, and a legend was born.
Some info may be wrong, there is a whole mythology to Team Fortress. :p

You forgot the Half-Life Platinum Pack which included:
Half-Life: Game of the Year Edition.
Counter-Strike
Blue-Shift: With High Definition model pack for Blue-Shift and Half-Life
TFC
Ricochet
Half-Life Deathmatch
AT&T Worldnet online playing. Requires a 56k modem
And lets not forget the trailer for Nightmare on Elm Street 3. :D

You mean they got the developers of Quake Team Fortress to make TF2, and to test the GoldSRC tools they were going to make Tf2 with, they remade TF1 for valve as TFC...

No. They made TFC as you know it and planned to upgrade it.

Team Fortress was originally a 1996 QuakeWorld mod. Its developers were working on Team Fortress 2 as a standalone game, but were later hired by VALVe Software and ported the original as a mod for Half-Life called Team Fortress Classic in April 1999. Despite the company's 1998 statement that Team Fortress 2: Brotherhood of Arms would be released "soon", the game remained in development of one form or another for eight years until its release on October 10, 2007, and had been on Wired magazine's top ten vaporware list every year since 2001.
Since Team Fortress Classic's release in 1999, Valve has introduced various changes into the game. The updates tweaked the game's balance and on occasion added new content, such as new levels. A particularly large update was released on June 8, 2000, which introduced several new levels and game modes and a new GUI menu interface, and optimized the game's network code for smoother, faster play. With this release, the game was renamed to Team Fortress 1.5. On March 13, 2001, the player models were redesigned. In 2003, the game was migrated into Valve's Steam system. Since then, a number of additional features were added. For much of its early history, Team Fortress Classic was second only to Counter-Strike as the most played and popular of online games.

The biggest controversial update was introducing the Teleporter to TFC, and the debate continues today since the Teleporter survived the to be included into Team Fortress 2. But it did prove one thing, a properly played Engineer is essential to any team.

Shut the ♥♥♥♥ up about Royston Valley, please. Also keep in mind that Teleporters were in TF1 as well, but only for one version since it was overpowered as hell (Mainly, it had no recharge time)
