TFC Is Still P2P...
TF2: Released in 2007,F2P
TFC: Released in 1999,P2P

Wait,WHAT THE ♥♥♥♥ING ♥♥♥♥ VALVE!?
Am I the only what that thinks TFC should be changed to F2P? It'd also be better for the game, too! F2P = More players!

EDIT: I just bought TFC a month ago,so stop commenting on this, will ya!?

People need to understand that it has nothing to do with how long the game has been out, or the player base, or anything else. TF2 is only F2P because it generates revenue for Valve through microtransactions with hats and whatnot. TFC doesn't have any of that, so the only way to make money off the game is to charge for it up front.

Which is a good thing, in my humblest opinion. I would prefer it remain a cheap, quality game with a small but dedicated community than a free one with a larger player base comprised of hackers using throwaway accounts.

If TFC was F2P you would have the same amount of people, very few people give a damn about TFC anymore. We need a TF:Source imo.

I bought it with the Half Life Complete pack a while ago, I think it's pretty intense!

As McSwifty said, TF2 is free to play because Valve can make money from the cosmetic items and other things you can buy.
Making TFC free to play will simply make Valve get no profit from it anymore.

It's propably for the best, otherwise more people will discover how absolutely broken the piece of ♥♥♥♥ is. Oh wait, that's propably for the best.

Might want to look into Foretress Forever. It was in developement at the same time as Team Fortress 2, though by TF:classic players, and with the goal of remaining as true to the original as possible. It is still in developement, but I hear it has some good points.

It has few players because nobody wants to play it anymore, not because it costs money. It's dead because it's an old game, it happens. It's only decent replacement was Fortress Forever, which nobody plays either because it never got on steam.

Yeah its odd becuase it was greenlighted quite awhile back.

the solution to all these is get off your a.ss and pay $5 you cheap ba.stards! if you can afford a 5 dollar foot long or a pack of smokes!! then you can afford tfc , so stop complaining about F2p becasue its never going to happend , stop spending so much time posting on these forums same topics , and get your as.s in the game.

Calm down. TF2 is good in its own way, and I'm glad it went Free-to-Play. Not only did it make moving Steam accounts easier (long story), but the amount of people using Steam as a whole shot up instantly. That means more players for a lot of different games. Even if they just freeload TF2 and nothing else, it's still good to have a game with such a high population.

Understand, though, that TFC is absolutely nothing like TF2. TF2 is much easier for beginners; however, this game has a very high skill ceiling, and has many more of the elements that make the Quake games... well, Quake. This means bunny hopping, strafe jumping, ramp sliding, trimping... oh, and grenades.

It's not a bad game to own, especially after its last update in 2009. As long as you render the game in OpenGL (don't worry about it, it's set up like that by default), the resolution scales very well, and for me, the gameplay will make you a total destroyer for TF2. I singlehandedly won Dustbowl as an attacker! My entire team was in trading at the time (note to self: stick to Valve servers), while the other team was all ready for a camping spree, so I grabbed my Air Strike and Buff Banner, and rolled out.

Why do you keep misspelling "Probably?" Besides, people still come and go and still like the game for the most part.
Besides, only reason why TFC costs money is because it doesn't have an online store or enough features that justifies paying for it in a different account.

Let me tell you, though, what happened when TF2 came out? People bought it up. I didn't expect much at first, because when I bought the Orange Box for Portal and HL2, I figured it would be bundle filler. Now I just went back and bought TFC.

No, because HL: Deathmatch is already free. It comes with Half-Life. Deathmatch Classic, on the other hand, is a completely different game. These 24-hour free games are getting you guys greedy...
