What is the most useful TFC script?
Most useful script?

The most useful TFC script is when you dont use any scripts. Play the game the way it should be played: vanilla. It's much more fun that way.

No disrespect.

This person obviously never played as a engineer on defense or spy on offense.

I use a text comms script, however it doesn't fully work any more.

Auto reload script is nice if you tend to forget to reload.

I have a zoom script but am barely using it. Example if I see a sniper in the distance but can't make out the colour, I may zoom in for a second to check whether it's friend or foe.

Jump script for bunny hopping if you don't use a mouse wheel. I've been told by skilled people that it's possible to bhop well with the default jump (bind space +jump), however I tried this in the past and it was horrible.

Recently I added a forward toggle, so instead of holding down W over a long distance, I press a different key one time and it keeps going forward until I press the key again.

For grenades I use a bind which works as a toggle. So e.g. I press mouse4 (1st side button) once to prime, and press again to throw.

Most useful of these are probably text comms and the grenade toggle.

Auto reload - not that useful if you always remember to press R.

Zoom - only in few situations useful.

Jump script - if you have a mouse wheel then you don't need a script - except if you get RSI. Arguably you can bhop fine with space bar and no script, but that's not for me though.

Forward toggle - only useful if you get RSI.

Incorrect.

You are also missing the point of what I said.

As noted the one best script is reload, especially for soly.
Don't be the flying Medic!

Btw the sniper rifle has two crosshairs. The large one doesn't work for some reason, but it's possible to make it appear. I've got a script which used to work every time, but now you often have to press the bound key multiple times. It may be possible to fix it, but I never actually use the bigger crosshair anyway.

bind "enter" "tf_weapon_axe;fov 20;wait;wait;wait;wait;tf_weapon_sniperrifle;fov 0"

I'm also using an attack toggle for sniper, so press once to charge the sniper rifle, press again to shoot. I think it also starts charging again immediately, but this is probably not ideal.

So your point is that clicking through menus is more fun than using a bind?

Oh man, don't start attacking the beloved bind, couldn't have made it without bind-on-the-fly. . .
Bind "l" "+hook" :steammocking:

My point is you dont need scripts to enjoy a 15+ year old game.

Thanks for the answers everyone! But, I was wondering, do any of you have a clean bhop script? Or an engineer build buildings script?
pizzahut Feb 22, 2016 @ 2:50am
AFAIK Valve has blocked the _special command which allowed command loops, so only clean scripts still work anyway. Such a script is included in this guide:

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=584650496

While I do have build binds as part of the text comms, I just use the VGUI menu instead. In multiplayer options, advanced, I have deactivated the command menu mouse cursor so I can turn around and shoot while navigating through the menu. By default the menu is missing an option to rotate the sentry right, so I've added this line to the build menu in "commandmenu.txt":

ENGINEER "4" "ROTATE SENTRY right" "rotatesentry180;rotatesentry;rotatesentry;rotatesentry"

If you want a script try Paft's website: http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/millard1/scripts_class.html

There's a difference between "scripts" and "binds". Binds make one key do one thing(although, you can chain things together, it's still different than a script). Scripts make one key do something you normally need several keys to do. While not "cheats", scripts tend to make the player look "cheap" in their gameplay. Binds remove the need to click through menus like the Engineer, or Spy has to.
Before anyone chimes in, I'm not judging anyone for how they set up their game. I use lots of binds, but no scripts. I learned to do all the skill stuff through practice. To me, it's just effort = reward.

Edit: Never mind, I got it now.
