Duck names not saving + Multiplayer issues
This bug has occurred both while I was playing in Singleplayer on Rooftop One Percent.

When naming ducks in the Collection menu, names will sometimes stop saving. When this bug occurs, no future duck renames will save - It will not display above the ducks' heads, and when clicking on the nametag in the Collection menu to edit the name, it will revert back to what it was previously.

For example, when the marker-graffiti duck appeared for me in my Rooftop One Percent game, it started with a blank name, since that was the first time it's appeared for me. I paused the game, opened Collection, and entered in the name "Shrimp". I clicked out of the text entry field, which has confirmed the name change in the past. I closed the pause menu and looked at the duck in the pool, but there was no nametag floating above it. I reopened Collections and clicked on the text field for the duck. Normally, when renaming a duck, it highlights the text of the duck's previous name when you open the text entry field. This time, the text outright disappeared without being highlighted. I typed the name in again, and, this time, exited the text field by pressing the enter key. The name still did not save. I tried again a few more times, and no dice. I saved the game in Slot #4, exited to the title screen and reloaded, and the bug was still present.

The only way I could fix the bug was by completely shutting the game down and relaunching it, which made unlocking and naming all the Ducks Galore ducks quite cumbersome. The bug seemed to start happening at random.

I have had two friends, Rob and Taxpayer, experience a similar yet unrelated issue: They would play multiplayer games together throughout multiple updates, naming each duck as they unlocked them. However, when they saved and closed the session, all the ducks' names would disappear upon loading the save. This seems to be a separate bug from the one I've been experiencing, since, for Rob and Taxpayer, the names would appear above the ducks during the session, but for the bug I'm experiencing, they would not. I suspect it's related to how duck names transfer across separate saves for Singleplayer.

I decided to mention these two issues in the same discussion post since they had similar effects - duck names not being saved - even though they seem to have different causes upon closer inspection. Also because I couldn't find any other discussion posts that mentioned either issue.

Multiplayer itself has been hurting for features for quite a while, both QoL and not. Players can't change their usernames after joining a server, and hosts can't change the names of their servers after creation. Also, players are still only able to play on the Infinity Cool map - DLC ownership shouldn't be causing a problem with this, given that non-basegame ducks are already selectable for Multiplayer servers.

I understand the lack of updates for the game, since Turbolento has been busy working on VR, Slowly Sliding Ducks, and the diorama, but it is still a little sad that PPDS has been lacking bug fixes and that Multiplayer has had zero updates since its initial release.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post. I'm sorry if it's a bit messy or hard to read - I haven't had to write an issue post on a Steam discussion board before. Regardless, I hope you have a good day! :smileduck:

Clairification: we made multiple host saves between us trying to get the names to save and they never would; even if we saved the files, the ducks would always reload nameless. it's very frustrating because we had really good collaborative efforts we made a game of for their names and they're allll gone.
Right off the top here, I've got to tell you that names not saving in multiplayer seems to be by design; to what end, I'm not sure myself. (In an ideal world this would be a toggle switch or something - but alas, it's not.)

I can also tell you that, as best as I can tell, your difficulties with naming ducks in single player seem to be the subject of a very rare bug indeed - to date (and to my knowledge) only one report similar to yours has ever been made for this particular card on the Trello board[trello.com]. Without any further insight, I'm afraid there's little to nothing I can do personally besides suggesting the usual steps of verifying game files and such. :steamsad:
