Menu not interactible

The new update that updated the UI now prevents you from clicking on the buttons with a mouse, i need to plug in a controller to select stuff. Has anyone had this issue and found a solution for it? thanks.

So the mouse doesn't work, but what about the touch, can you give inputs using the touch?

Desktop mode, touch screen does nothing. i can move the mouse cursor. and hitting b, which im guessing has escape bound to it opens the "would you like to quit". But i cant do anything with that either
Can reach the same quit popup with game pad mode by hitting start. No control outside that.

I have also tried enabling and disabling steam input. Didn't appear to make a difference

so i went to the device manager and disabled the touch screen and was able to get it to work

The touchscreen was also a problem for me with a more typical laptop. After the update the main menu buttons were not responding to mouse over (highlighting) or clicking, whether using a mouse, the touch pad, or the touchscreen. The pointer could move and esc would bring up and dismiss the exit dialog (which also did not respond).
I disabled the "HID-compliant touch screen" device in Device Manager and that did re-enable the menu using the mouse and touch pad.

For everyone having this touchscreen issue, we made a test build for you to try and see if our fixes work.

If you can, follow these passages:

- re-enable the touch screen in the device settings
- open steam, right-click on placid plastic duck simulator, then click on Properties...
- go to betas
- in the Private Betas section, paste the password: ppdstouchquack
- then select "touchtest" from the scroll-down menu on top
- update the game
- see if see issue is fixed

Ok, thank you. We'll wait to see if someone else tries and confirms, then we'll remove the test build you just tried and you'll be able to play with the normal build. Thank you!
