Flamingo wont get in the pool
I have almost 15hrs of play and it's never gotten in the pool. Closest was last night it was over the edge just a bit and then the jousting duck poked him. Usually I play for under 2hrs at a time. Last night it was over 3hrs and that hanging over a bit was the closest he's gotten. Do you need to have the game run for many hours for it to move.

the total amount of gameplay doesn't count here, what counts is the single run; one has to wait until it gets into the pool. Good thing is you got the achievement already.

Thank you for the reply.

I was guessing that it was current play time based on my experience but is there a minimum amount of time the game has to run for it to get in? Because 3hrs and still not in yet seems like a bit long. Not everyone has that kind of time. It's good I got the achievement but it'd be nice to see it in the pool.

It might be a bit better if it were tied to an event, like a storm blowing it in. Then it's a matter of getting lucky and not of having to have the game running for several hours consecutively.

I just ran the game for a while and the evidence appears to suggest that, at least for me, it still takes about an hour for the flamingo to enter the pool.

Seems like it should have happened then but it's only ever moved some. I started a new save for the DLC so will wait till I have a good span of time for it to run.

I just bought the game today and have 'played' it for a little under 2 hours and I dunno what made the flamingo move but it's in the pool. Didn't get a cheevo pop for it, but I'm just having fun watching duck shenanigans.

The flamingo moves automatically - it's given a very slight amount of momentum at spawn time, and the rest is just waiting.

Well he finally got most of the way into the pool. At one hour it was hanging over a bit after that it seem to need the other ducks to bump it and make it move more. One bit was still hung up on the pool corner when joust duck got it. But it still made me happy he got in most of the way.

I guess I was just unlucky and the other ducks didn't bump him enough on my past longer plays.

I don't think that's quite the case. I don't see it slowly sliding like it has momentum. It's like it's in one place then basically transfers to the next bit closer place. Kinda semantics though it's programmed to move but it seems only to hanging over a bit then it's up to the pool ducks to knock it in. My luck with duck bumping was just bad.

When I say "very slight", I mean it - if you take a video capture of the flamingo and play it back at double speed, its motion is a bit more obvious. (I say double speed because that's as fast as Windows Media Player will go, but you can probably get it going even faster with an alternative like VLC.)

I'm running a session for 109 minutes and flamingo is still not in the pool.. i don't know if the numbers change for every load or if it's always the same though.

Unless the dev clarifies I stand by my theory that it stops once over the edge a bit then requires the ducks in the pool to knock it in. As my original post said it was well over an hour and not in the pool which is why I asked at the time what the deal was. Though it did make it full in the pool eventually when I had more ducks. More ducks means more can bump into it faster. Of course you could be unlucky and have one of your early ducks be pointy and make it hard for it to make it into the pool at all.

So the answer to my original question would be over an hour then the rest is rng of the ducks bumping it.

Both time, it took more than 120 minutes to get it close enough to the pool. maybe closer to 150 minutes... and it indeed kept going to the pool even if no duck touched it. If ducks collide with it, it just makes it drop in the pool faster.. but if you only have 1 duck and don't allow more to spawn, you could leave the game 3h and it should be safe to assum that the flamingo would fall into the pool.. just you won't have any duck to pop it...

Hmm could be it keeps moving then and is set to around 2-3 hours or a bit more if no ducks push it. I watched a stream of it last night and it went in right around the 2 hours mark but some ducks for sure helped push it in. But they only had one pointy duck so didn't get to that fun interaction before having to end stream.

I wish it worked differently, like maybe storms pushed it in or something so it was rng instead of time based. Not everyone can play the game for multiple hour stretches to get to experience it. I only had it happen a couple times by letting it run while doing other things and keeping an eye on it. I know some have said they just let it run to get achievements but I want to sit and watch it happen. I just can't do it for super long in one go.

Yeah it's like the third time I'm leaving PC running afk on the game and i'm almost at 2h and the flamingo is still not in but it could be pushed by a duck probably if one come out of the slide very very fast as they do sometime. Pretty sure it's around 3h for the flamingo to fall in the pool by itself or something like that. It seems to be the same rate every time for everyone.

EDIT: Well one just hit the flamingo at full speed and it passed under it (like the flamingo got lifted a little bit).. Maybe a taller duck.. the one with party hat or the shark or something.. could maybe be tall enough to move it instead of sliding under..

EDIT2: never mind the birth party duck went under.. the hat has no hitbox xD

edit3: the cyber duck just hit the flamingo at full speed and this time it fell in the pool. So yeah.. depends on RNG... it's 111 minutes in now..

I'd guess the waves make the difference in if they are high enough to bump it. Like the run that made me first post, the lance duck went under and pooped it but on other runs lance duck has gone under and not popped it. The only variable I can think of with that is wave height.

How does one remove the flamingo from the pool? Once flamingo is in, it blocks the sliding pond and prevents the ducks from circulating. Also there is one duck trapped within the flamingo. It would be nice to be able to pick up the flamingo and put it back out.
