Same here. Maybe in the next update, they will remove the present feature.
I know they weren't wrapped like that before the event, so I'm hoping they stop coming wrapped after. I like to let my ducks sit and run by themselves, and it is annoying to have to click on them regularly.
The simple solution is set your system clock to Jan 11th before starting the game. Seasonal game events are almost always tied to the system clock.
Though it's almost a mute point soon.
That's too bad and unusual. Most games tie it to the clock to keep it simple. Maybe there will be a small update to revert the event.
