Why does every NIS game have such good voice actors?
Where are they finding the English cast for these games? The quality of this game would beat most anime dubs.

They actually don't always, though I guess it's subjective. I put them next to Square Enix; when they do it right, it's peak voice acting that very often is unmatched in the industry, but when it isn't, boy is it bad.

From what I heard though, NIS actually puts a lot of money into voice work both locally and overseas, which draws better talent, and many of their actors are either fans of these kind of games or already have experience with the nuances of similar content, usually anime or western cartoon voiceacting. You see that pretty quickly when looking up the voice actors, usually.

I'm guessing it's because NIS America actually does anime dubs. Which means they've got a bank of professional VA's to call on that specialise in dubbing Japanese content for a Western audience.

Yeah, but as any anime/JRPG fan will tell you, you're far more likely to run across terrible English voice acting than good voice acting.

It's for that reason why so many people don't like dubs. The voices and/or tone/energy doesn't much the character, or the voice actors sound like they're barely keeping themselves from laughing at the content or blatantly don't care and obviously hate their life and/or their job.

Personally I'd rather companies save money on dubs and spend it elsewhere

Is this a troll/sarcasm?

Or you mean JP voiceover being good in comparison?

Because english one is one hot garbage as it usually is.

I recognize some of the English cast from Soul Nomad and the World Eaters. I heard Gig, Rayna, and Danette guaranteed.
I also know they are using voices from Disgaea as well.

While whether or not these are good voice actors is up to personal preference, they have access to a long history of voice actors for previously voiced games from over 20 years for both languages.

Maybe this answers your questions.

I'd say this is about as good as it gets for English dubs. I usually listen to the original seiyus in most anime nowadays just because it comes out quicker but its nice to listen to a good dub in my first language. Voice acting has come a long way from the 1990s

You've obviously never played a Square Enix game, or Elden Ring/Dark Souls, or Resident Evil...

I get it, it's so great it's doing its job so you don't even notice it's retranslated, but here's a knowledge flare: those games are all made by Japanese developers/publishers in Japanese and then dubbed into other languages, lmao. Still a problem in more lower budget titles (star ocean) where the lip syncing doesn't match well.

Plenty of places do it right. Say what you will of FF15 (I think it's easily the worst mainline FF game and one of the worst open world gamers ever made), but the voice acting is fantastic. FF12's voice acting still gives me chills, especially when Fran, Basch, or Balthier open their mouths.

Those are all dubs.

Rather ironic thing to say considering this was done by Sentai Filmworks, one of the main anime dubbers

...and here I am instantly switched to to the JPN voice-overs when I started because Eury's voice is ear-murder. Nothing I hate more than hearing a Western VA try and be cute but end up sounding 100% BasicB in the process; essentially every Eng vTuber in a nutshell.
