I just brought this game on Steam sale. The game launches then get's stuck on the main loading page where it simply says PRINCE OF PERSIA.
My OS is W8.1 64bit

Is this a known issue?

I had this problem as well with the Prince of Persia on Steam. You NEED to check the vertical sync in the options menu before launching the game, and it will be fixed :)

Do you know how the vsync option is written in the .ini file please?

Hey CasuallyFilthy,

You should be able to enable / disable V-Sync in the game's launcher.

If you're not given an option when launching the game on Steam to go via the launcher instead, then please use Browse Local Files to go to the 'Launcher' folder and load the 'Launcher.exe' file.

This will allow you to change your graphical settings as well as click to enable V-Sync.

Please let us know how you get on and if you have any other issues!

Works fine on 7 64bit (not trying to brag or troll, just confirming it works on 7)

You to select Vertical Sync on the settings. It should run then. And yes, it a known issue.

If you don't want to introduce the input lag cause by vsync, there's another solution:

Open the file called dare.ini in the game directory and set DISABLE_OPTIMISATION to TRUE. This will decrease some multithreading features that cause the race condition that causes the lockup.

Pretty much what Wmalinowski said. I ran into the same issue on Windows 7 as well. I had to toggle the vertical sync and it worked just fine. Kind of silly but sadly old ports run into issues.

The way I deal with that problem; even though it isn't the most effective way, I click tab and alt until it loads, it'll most likely take 5-10minutes to get it going though. :steamsad:

Agreed, but simply checking the vertical sync in the game options before launching the game is instantaneously solving the problem forever ;)

Additionally disconnect controllers to be sure there are no driver conflicts (I cannot launch the Game while the Steam Controller is turned on) (Win7)

also doesn't seem to want to launch from anything other than the default steam directory on the c: drive. dammit.

for me it wouldnt load until I turned on vsync. at least that was my problem and I am running the game perfectly fine in windows 10 now. yes it does work on w10. no its not only for xp or windows 7. Only problem is that the game is locked at 24fps cause it is a console game after all.
