Prince of Persia

Prince of Persia

Can anyone get this to run in Windows 10
I've been trying to get it to load in Windows 10 using all of the things I've seen to get it to run in Windows 8.1/8/7, including setting the disable optimisations to true, vsync on, etc. If anyone has managed to get this to work in Windows 10 please let me know how. Thanks.

make sure you Enable the .NET Framework 3.5 in Control Panel
I have been trying everything on the web to run the game in W10. the only thing that worked for me was to put in Nvidia Control Painel, to run FAST in Vsync.

Here is where the fix was posted:

Guys. Everyone that still have this problem to play the game on Windows 10. Two things you need to know:

1. The game won't launch if you have a gamepad plugged;
2. The Game won't launch if Anti-Alias option it's more than 8X;

Good Luck
repluging gamepad worked on me after trying many thing.THanj you very much savior

Ok, it's working finally for build 1909 win 10 version :steamhappy:
Just follow this steps properly :

1. Add the game exe on nvidia control panel and set the v-sync to "Fast".
2. Install net framework 2.0 and 3.5 both.
3. Go the game folder on your drive, set the compatibility mode to windows 7.
4. Reboot your pc (this is required)
5. After rebooting go the game folder again, run the game launcher as admin.
6. Before launching make sure to check "v-sync"' and "widescreen"both in game and set antialiasing to none, click ok on the game pre-launcher menu.
7. Launch the game.

Hope this helps.

I had the same problem (game froze when "new game" was selected), and I fixed it by changing the monitor refresh rate to 60hz.
If anyone still has the same problem, I didn't do any of the other recommended solutions. I just went to Nvidia control panel and changed my refresh from 144hz to 60hz.
That did the trick
I will re post what BattleGirafe said in another post (like 3 or 4 below yours). It works perfectly. Just follow the exact steps. The files he refers to are safe and you can find them on GitHub, this game needs an extra patch to be played in Win 10

GITHUB LINK: GitHub Link [github.com]

Problem solved - game is running.

June 2020, Windows 10 - This link (see quote above) and these downloads worked for me! This link downloads a zipped pack of 7 new files, and you must unzip these 7 files into your Steam install folder where your game application resides. (Mine is in SteamApps/Common/Prince of Persia). Unpack the files into the same location as your Prince of Persia launcher app - there are many other files here of similar types, but these don't replace any of the ones you already have.

I got the game up and running and it's at full graphics and high framerates.

HOWEVER, you may also need to do the following (I needed to):
1. Look in your Steam game folder under SteamApps/Common/Prince of Persia. Right click on your Prince of Persia Launcher app (it's an .exe file but it may not appear that way in your folder). Choose "Properties" at the bottom. This will open a small window with several tab choices at the top - choose the one marked "compatibility".

2. Near the top, under "compatibility mode," check the box for "Run this program as..." and select "Windows Vista."

3. This may be important - Do NOT check the box marked "Run as Administrator." For some reason, checking this box ensures that my game will not load at all - instead it will bounce me back to the settings page each time.

4. One more thing - near the bottom of this window, under "run as administrator," there is a large box with the words "Change high DPI settings" - click this. I don't know how necessary these steps are, but my game started running after changing these.

5. This will open a new small window that has several choices. I clicked the box at the top that says "Use this setting to fix scaling problems for this program instead of the one in Settings."

6. On the box in the middle of this window, that says "Use the DPI that's set for my main display when..." - I chose "I signed into Windows."

7. I also checked the box at the bottom that says "Override high DPI scaling behavior. Scaling performed by: I chose the box called "Application".

I don't know if all these choices were required. I just know that my game wouldn't open at all... then after I made a few changes, the game would open but it would also get stuck on the opening screen called "Into the Storm" and wouldn't progress past that loading screen.

But now the game not only opens, it works great under Windows 10, and it looks absolutely beautiful.

I did not have to reduce colors, or change any other behavior.

Hope this works for everyone else. If you have have improvement or tweaks to this, please post here.

When you select the game on the Steam library page, and click the Start button, you are given the choice of settings - although not many choices.

My settings read:

Screen Resolution: 2560 x 1440 (yours might be different - you just have to try the ones that best fit your monitor)
Widescreen (checked)
Vertical Sync (checked)
Anti-aliasing - 8x
Graphics Quality - all the way to the right on High
High Resolution Textures - checked
My monitor refreshes at at a rate of 144, not 60. I don't know if this makes any difference.
this is the solution that i found, and i want to share it who is window10 user of prince of persia.

i installed VCredist at local file in prince of persia of steam.
you can easily find local file of prince of persia with right mouse click, and in the list you can see the 'Manage' and in the Manage's 'Browse local file'. then you can find 'VCredist folder.' and install that with inside of the install file.

so my problem was redist installation.

i hope it helped you guys.
