Save Failed. Storage device in use has been removed
Has any one else seen this error when trying to save their game?

The funny thing is, it was working fine last week. I started playing the game from the beginning and made it through 3 of the first four locations. I have 3-4 save files + the autosave.

I can load any of my save files but I cannot save a new file or overwrite an existing anymore.

I have tried:
- changing compatibility mode to Win 7 (I'm on Win10, ATI HD79XX, 16GB RAM)
- uninstalling the latest updates
- verifying permissions on the save folder in the Documents folder
- verifying the game
- uninstalling and reinstalling to a different drive
- VSync on
- vsync off
- various changes to the graphics settings before launching the game
- changes to the DARE.ini
- removing my save folder and creating a new one
- launching as administrator.
- starting a new game
Everytime, I can launch the game and load my save and then I get the error: "Save Failed Storage device in use has been removed" when trying to save it again.

Any ideas?

Thanks for your help.

I had the same problem. It was My antivirus bitdefender which has protected folders. Just remove them and problem fixed.

For anyone coming here running Windows 10, this is caused by the "Controlled Folder Access" feature that's part of Windows 10's Ransomware Protection. To fix this, you need to either disable Controlled Folder Access similar to what @regardtnel mentioned above, or allow the following apps access to Controlled Folders:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Prince of Persia\Launcher\Launcher.exe

and

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Prince of Persia\PrinceOfPersia_Launcher.exe
